Hey guys i am thinking of buying a used set but its in real good condition.

they are i3 osize irons from 3-w (winn g7 grips) it includes a IWEDGE set from 52, 56, 60 which was used immaculately too...

it also comes with used scotty cameron newport 1 pro platinum (midsland) putter w/cover.

the woods are a brand new never used in wrapping RAPTURE driver with adila vs proto shaft (the blue one) w/o head-cover

a rapture 5 wood and a 18deg hybrid....they all come with the adila shaft.

the person is including a ping vintage bag.... with the entire set..

he is asking 800 is this a pretty decent deal??? what should i pay

i am currently hitting with i3s... but mine has issues... bent shaft.... chipped club head...

thanks!

Just make sure theRapture woods in the wrapping are real, and not fakes. There are a lot of fakes going around, and I may be wrong, but I don't think that Ping wraps their woods. A friend of mine got screwed on a set of Taylor Made woods. Be careful!

the woods are legit it seems. i checked the serial number on the hozel with ping in arizona. haha unless they made a fake serial number too...

Well the rapture 5 wood and 18 degree hybrid, would net pretty much the same distances, as their loft is about the same, most 5 woods are 17-19 degrees. So I would try to buy without the 5 wood. Make sure theyre the right shaft and fitting specs for you too.

Ah.. thanks for the input.

i would have never thought that.

but for the price am i getting a fair deal??

the 5 wood can be switched out for a 3...

I think if you were to buy all of that on ebay you could expect to spend this:
i3 OSize 3-pw - $205
iWedges 52, 56, 60 - $135 for all of them
scppnp - $200
rapture driver - $125
wood and hybrid - $185
used bag - $50
_________
total - $900

800 Might be a good deal if you really want the equipment. Ask for $650 - $700.

putter: Studio Select Newport 1.5

I guess I would just say that if you really are a newbie then 800 is quite a bit to spend on clubs. It is hard to believe that all of these clubs fit you well, and even if they do then they might not after your game progresses a bit. Then again I am an unrepentant cheapskate, the total cost of my bag is about $125, but I love everything in it.

Not really because the shaft on a 5 wood is longer than on a 5 hybrid so you will probably get at least 20 yards more with a 5 wood, I also don't sugest a 3 wood I am a 8 handicap and I still cant hit my 3 wood of deck.

Wear the tag "unrepentant cheapskate" as a badge of honor!

I would like to be able to wear that tag as well, but I've got miles to go but I'm working on it.

$800....oh yeah.....go for it with much confidence.

Ping does shrink wrap their wood and hybrid heads....at least they did with all my G10 sticks.

Sounds like a very solid deal...you could most like break even or better if you fell out of love with the game in a few months.

Did they come with head covers at all, because if they didnt I would suggest getting some headcovers of ebay because the paint on ping woods chip very easily.

    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.
