Has any body tried the Ping Redwoods or the Odyssey Black Series? I've been saving my money and want to spend it on a new putter. Any input is appreciated.

My dad has an odyssey black series putter and although it looks amazing, I don't really like the roll. I much prefer my yes putter. Rife also makes great stuff.

I got a new putter recently, and as you can see in my sig I went with the Yes! I tried the Ping Redwood Piper and really really liked it (didn't want to spend that much money though). I also tried a Rife putter which was really nice too. If money is no problem then you won't be disappointed with a Redwood but I would recommend you try a Rife and Yes before spending your hard earned money.

i have hit both the redwoods and the black series i liked the black i 9 it was my second choice redwood with the third but i also tried the mizuno bettinardi and it was my favorite but dont buy something just because someone else tells you to. Putters are the most personal club in your bag so just roll a few with some putters and buy what you like, i was expecting to buy a scotty but the i liked the mizuno more.hope this helps.

The thing is though that I'm a lefty and they almost never have lefty putters to try, and if they do it's not the right one. I can putt righty and get the feel and am pretty good at it, but it's not natural. My setup is different and my swing is a little different. I've tried other Ping putter and loved them. If I do go with the Ping I've never hit the zb, my favorite. I'd have to order through my country club as a special order and try and maybe return. I just don't want to return...

First post; Hi everyone.

I got the impression the Op didn't want an insert since the redwood is milled and the black series (no I) is the milled line from Odyssey. I'm in the same boat as the OP; a Lefty hunting Easter Eggs in a right handed world... I found a Redwood Anser that I could try lefty (really nice), but there's no one I can find in Memphis, TN that has a left handed Black Series #1 which is the one I really like from hitting the right handed versions. Since I was coming from a Ping Isopure 2 insert putter I didn't want to shell out for the high end milled putter until I was sure I'd like the steel vs the insert (past the really liking the milled steel sound in the store ). I just got a used Nike unitized Leo for $45 including shipping that is doing a good job showing me that milled is the way to go for me. The feel of the Nike stick is a bit harsh but it gives good feed back and is nice & heavy, I'll use this until I can try the Black Series in a store and then I'll order the #1 or the Anser.

    • You start pushing forward at P2. You start visibly moving forward at P3. Waiting until the top is way too late, yeah.
    • 100%. I've been guilty my entire time golfing of trying to fit everything imaginable into the .25 second downswing. Sometimes I think it's partly influenced by my backswing length and that if things were slightly longer on the way back, they'd be better synced up on the way down. I also kind of lack a transition. Was doing the practice swing drill today a decent bit where I was feeling like as the club got to the top, the feel of the weight was shifting me forward and initiating the fall into the lead leg. I loved this drill before for this reason and because I need to stop thinking of the golf swing as backswing and downswing.
    • The bold is very late.
    • Angle isn't perfect. Just found my TST alignment stick, so will make sure video angles are better in future videos. Focus right now is lower body and lower body only. If I make a single post here for the foreseeable future about anything NOT lower body focused, I need to be slapped (I will make an occasional note on unrelated stuff I might be seeing). It's not perfect by any means, but there is a decent bit I like about this swing. Lower body is definitely better than it was pre-TST meetup instruction. There are some things that are tough to see I think I'm doing better like where pressure is going into the trail foot and keeping that trail hip internally rotated. Need to keep feeling those. I think I do my best work when the trail leg keeps its flex on the backswing or at most loses a degree. Keeping the flex (but obviously not adding any) seems to help feel like I'm loading the right glute and to keep the hip internally rotated. Not totally sold on this though. I think my work on adding flow during the TST COVID-19 lessons really helped even though its been quite some time. Shift -> rotate -> shift -> rotate. I just need more out of my hips. It's not drastic, but it's everything. I think it will help sync up a lot regarding my swing and more power to boot. Unrelated note: I hate my negative spine angle.
    • Day 3 - mirror swings/drills after my workout. Two seemingly good feels for me: feel like as the club reaches the top the weight of it/momentum of it pointing left initiates my "fall" into the lead side. Helps initiate the re-centering and some of the pressure shift. The second feel is like: as soon as the re-centering is over, begin to lighten the trail foot by feeling like my right knee in the beginning of the downswing essentially replaces where my left knee was at the top. This helps halt my sometimes ludicrous slide and greatly helps me get open.
