Did anyone try the newest driver from Titleist? 909 Series

Titleist just launched their newest drier 909 series, 909 Comp, 909 D2, and 909 D3. Did anyone have a chance to hit them yet? What are the differences between comp, D2, and D3? Which one will you suggest to a beginner (handicap 36, 200 yards with driver)?

Which one is better, Taylormade newest BURNER diver or Titleist 909?

Have you listened to the podcast? Or the read any of the thread divoted to Titleist 909? Lots of answers there. I have hit both the 909D2 and D3, and the New Burner. Burner spins alot more, but all the stock shafts are a bit weak in both the Titleist and TM offerings. I'd like to try again when I can get a shaft that better fits me. I liked the D3 the best, but I do still game the 905s, so no big surprise there

In the Titleist bag on the ClicGear 2.0:

Depends on too many things to get into here.

Get fit, hit them both, decide for yourself. Personally, I don't care for the shape of the TM head or the length of the shaft.

The d2 is for players in the 10 to 15 handicap range I think, while the d3 is like a tour driver. The burner would probably be the best for you because it's the most forgiving out of all of the drivers. If you do get the burner though, you should get the shaft cut, because it is almost an inch longer than the other drivers(This creates on average 7 or 8 more yards but for a beginner this creates a lot less accuracy)

Nice, sure I will try D2 and new burner this weekend!

What about Titleist 909 COMP? Who is it for?

Then why do more tour players playing the 909 play the D2 instead of the D3?

It's all dependant on the launch conditions of the individual player. All Titleist clubs are designed for the better player bracket.

Idk why that is, But thats just what golf mag said. The D comp Is probably going to be your best bet for A titleist driver, It has higher launch and is the most forgiving. Each Driver has a a slowly smaller head with a taller face goin from D comp, D2, to D3.

The Dcomp is for 5 to 20 handicappers, the preformance would compare to the burner, except the Dcomp is more workable and about 5 to 10 yards shorter. Save your money and distance and get the Burner.

Wrong. Some PGA Tour players have the D Comp in play. It fits into the family to satisfy a certain set of launch conditions, NOT "handicap limits."

I recently just tested both of these companies drivers and titleist easisly came out on top for me.

The trajectory control is unbeleivable with the titleist offerings while the taylormade is a little "loose" if you know what I'm saying.

Overall the titleist is easily the more solid, workable driver.

I am a fan of the new Burner.. I currently hit the 07 model which I love but will more than likely get one of these new ones when the price drops.

I have recently played the 905, the 907 D2, then briefly the G10 (too much spin for me) and now the 909 D3. The D3 is a little like the 905, which is still a good driver in my opinion (well, they are all good drivers now-a-days.)

If you have a higher speed swing, the D3 helps maintain penetration since it has a bit lower flight (I like a shot that flattens out its highest point and continues to carry.) It has become my favorite since the ball flight is very controllable and it plays well in the wind. The G10 experiment was a 7.5 with a tour X shaft, and I hit it too high compared to the D3 at 8.5 -- can't quite explain that disparity except to say the Titliest D3 and Voodoo shaft seems to be the right one for my swing speed and launch angle. I suspect it might not be the best choice for slower swing speeds or higher handicappers. Some who have hit my new D3 don't get much height with it.

If I am not mistaken, Davis Love's recent victory was with a D3.

Its not about handicap, its about launch angle. The lowest to highest launch is in this order-D3, D2, DComp. Then reverse that order for forgiveness. Good luck. Let us know what you choose.

First post from the FNG ; ). Let me start off by saying I'm happy to have found a community of folks as dedicated to the wonderful game of golf as myself. People think I'm crazy because I love the game so much and am, admittedly, obsessed with it. It's good to see there are others out there just like me.

In any case, I currently play the TM Superquad but am looking into purchasing the Titleist 909 D2 or D3 driver. However, I do wonder if the fact that they are 1* open as opposed to the closed face of the TM will cause problems for me...like a power fade. Currently, my miss is a pull. I'll obviously be demoing the club in the near future, but was just curious what others think about this concept. Any thoughts?

The superquad is actually shut at least according to the website-

http://www.taylormadegolf.com/produc...specifications That said the .5 degree open face might be a little hard for you unless you play a hook now. Anyways hope it works for you best driver ever to me.
