well, i just got into golfing this year, and got bit by the bug real hard! i'm horrible, but i still love the game, even after shooting 115 the other day.

i'm still trying to talk my wife into at least trying the game out with me, as i feel its a game we can play together for a lifetime. she hates the fact that i spend so much on the sport, but she wants me to buy her some cheap clubs...nothing fancy.

what are your guys thoughts on some of the "all inclusive" sets? she found a full set w/ driver, woods, hybrids, irons, putter and bag (i think the brand was founder's club) for something like $250 cdn. i'd really like to get her some nice callaways or tm, but she doesnt want them as she might not even like the sport.

what do you guys suggest?

While I'm not married, I have played a lot with a husband and wife combo. I'm not sure they would still be married without golf, though. They play together a lot and enjoy their time together. She is on her third set of clubs now because the first couple sets were cheap and just didn't help her enough to make it fun, so he finally broke down and bought her the Mizuno Ladies Sora irons and she loves them (but he paid $800). Below is a link for TGW.com (The Golf Warehouse) for women's sets. There are a few sets for under $300. The set I have actually heard the most positive about in that range is the Tour Edge set ($299.99).

My mrs is on her 4th set.First thing is how tall is yourwife? if she is 5-9 or more you might do better and save some cash by buying her mens senior clubs as womens clubbs are usually short and expensive as clubs go.You can usually get a good {Wilson ?} complete set for a senior for under 400 and it should last her till she gets hooked and then the 2 of you can go broke together for the rest of your lives like we did.

check out dickssportinggoods.com they have a line of their own brand called "Acuity", they arent the best clubs but they are cheap and a nice starter set. they have all inclusive sets from driver all the way to putter. Again, they arent the greatest for performance, but perfect for a beginner.

I would recommend play it safe and buy the least expensive sets and after 6 month you will know if she is still interested.

I gotta agree, acuity makes pretty nice starter sets for a pretty decent price. Actually used an acuity milled putter for a while and treated me decently well. I know a few people who bought those sets too and they like them a lot.

      Day 125 12-15 Half swings with flow drill. Focused on rhythm, loading trail side then getting to lead side correctly. Hit a few foam balls but mostly drilling without ball.

      Never practiced golf when I was young and the only lesson ever taken was a driver lesson. I feel like I'm improving every year. However, the numbers don't support my feeling about improving. I usually drop to 12-13 during the summer while playing the familiar courses around home and then go on golf trips in the fall to new courses and increase to end the year between 15-17. Been a similar story for a number of years now but hey, it's the best thing there is in life so not too bothered but reaching 9.9 is the objective every year. Maybe a few lessons and practice could help me achieve it since I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing, just playing and never practice.

      I am semi-loyal. Usually buy four dozen of one ball and only play that until out and then determine whether to continue or try another one. Since starting my semi-loyal path to success, I've been playing the below, not in order: ProV1 ProV1x ProV1x left dash AVX Bridgestone BXS Srixon Z-star XV I am not sure if it has helped anything, but it gives a bit of confidence knowing that it at least is not the ball (while using the same one) that gives different results so one thing less to mind about I guess. On the level that I am, not sure whether it makes much difference but will continue since I have to play something so might as well go with the same ball for a number of rounds. Edit: favorite is probably the BXS followed by ProV1/Srixon Z-star XV. Haven't got any numbers to back it up but just by feel.

      Will not do it by myself, going to the pro shop I usually use after Cristmas for input and actually doing the changes, if any, but wanted to get some thoughts on whether this was worthwhile out of curiosity.

      In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
