Ok what the hell was that. 65 on thrusday and 83 today to miss the cut. He took a 9 on his last hole of the day. That had to be hard for Furyk to watch all day. Talk about a game of opposites. Can't wait to hear some of post round interviews.

Just like Pampling! Leads the British Open after day one and then misses the cut. An 83! Freakin' wow. Even David Duval shot better than an 83 at least four or five times last year!

I'm sure at one time or another we've all played with someone who is HACKING up the course. Man, I find it hard to stay focused on my game when that happens. Its so easy to get dragged down. That makes Furyks 71 look great.

I know I always tend to play better with better players. Its especially tough to watch a great player struggle. I don't think that does much for the confidence of anyone in the group.

Funny, with me I love getting paired with someone that is playing poorly. I guess it makes it easier for me to focus and have fun with it.

    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
    • That depends what you do within those two.  Are they your only options?   Check out Fit for Golf if you get a moment.  It's linked on the sidebar;  I did it for two years, stopped for a really bad reason, and I plan to get back to it soon.   Mike Carroll also has a great free podcast about a lot of topics in golf fitness.
    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
