Im still waiting to see the proof where MOST square drivers are between 3º and 9º closed. i cant wait to see that. i've never heard of it before, and i have certainly never seen one that closed....

No, you used the word "ILLEGAL"....the only organization that can declare equipment "illegal" is the USGA...so therefore, for you to claim something is illegal, YOU need to show me the ruling by the USGA.

Ok, i Just checked there is no weight limit, I read from a site there was, that is in fact incorrect. How is it difficult for me to back up my words? I told you the USGA sets the laws on clubs. IF you apply those laws, then you can get a smash of 1.5. I never said the USGA made any ruling at all on smash, I'm applying their rules to the equation. Your the one putting words in my mouth. I love how you bash my words, yet come up with no proof of my own.

I DO appreciate you admitting at least that much!

Unfortunately, you SPECIFICALLY said that when you said:

Who's rules?

Since you are accusing me of "putting words" in your mouth, lets have you clarify (once again)...please answer yes or no: 1) Do you still profess that the USGA has a ruling regarding Smash Factor limits? If so, can you produce it now? 2) Do you still maintain that most manufactured square heads are between 3-9* closed? Can you produce those records now?

LOL...you said that FOUR hours ago! Must be a hell of a delay! I look foward to your proof....especially considering that here in our shops we carry (at last count last week) 37 different models of drivers (in various lofts)...including 4 square ones and not one is 3* closed...let alone 9* closed. Matter of fact, the new Nike STR8-FIT with the adjustable hosel will allow a maximum closure of 2*! But as you have inferred, you know more than the rest of us! Have a safe flight my friend!

this is hilarious. it looks like st0wgolf just pulled a bunch of figures out of his a**, and stated them as being facts. im really interested in seeing that article on drivers being between 3º and 9º closed. ive never heard of such a thing. 9 degrees??? lol, hell, even 3º is crazy

"The fact that most manufacturers square drivers are 3-9 degrees closed" LOL! That is hilarious!

Not trying to get into this, but i will add a few things to the equation.

The vast majority of OTR square driver i have ever seen are closed face, Minus the cally, "fade Models" which still look just about square.(whihc by the way,if a club is supposed to hit a straight ball, why offer a draw or fade model? isnt that defeating the purpose?) Just because your Nike only "allows two degrees of closure" doesnt mean it is not closed more..Clubs have lofts stamped on them, but they dont really play to those lofts, so just because they say they are only two closed, doesnt mean its true. Do not ask me to pull out that document. You can find it just as easily as i can : )

Toy with the wording all you like, but if your smash factor is above 1.5 you're likely using an illegal driver (and making dead-center contact every time). Quite unlikely an 8's doing that, and you'd need a machine to swing something heavy enough fast enough to top 1.6 let alone 1.7.

So again, calm down. That goes for the both of you. Update: We're not talking about long drivers. Duh. As I said, you'd need to swing something heavy enough fast enough. The average golfer isn't gonna get there. Period.

I can't imagine what's wrong with you guys.

The square driver doesn't merit this much discussion, just on the basis of its ugliness alone. My other clubs would refuse to share a bag with one.

We're getting closer and closer to Tin Cup with the fungo bat, the shovel, and whatever the hell else that Cosner had.

Square driver indeed. As it is, the 460cc models remind me of those huge-headed, bright colored, children's plastic clubs.

I have a Callaway Fti square driver at the moment and there are days where they are going long and straight but other where i am much less consistant.
It definately helped me get going in golf - only been playing 6months.
You could try the Fti, though it may not be suited to your handicap. They have a tour version - that could help.
Callaway have just released the Fti-Q, which is the next model on from mine, you could give that a go too. If you want the cheaper side of Square drivers, MD Golf do them, though go for the 2009 model as the 2008 is ugly.

To the two who persist in being idiots (both of you): take it to private messages or just drop it. I don't care which.
