I have a set of Cobra Transition-S. I love the clubs and able to hit P-6 irons fairly straight.

My problem is the hybrid irons 3,4 and 5. I do not seem to be able to control the direction with any accuracy. The swing angle vary from + to - 10 degrees. This could be detrimental for a long par 3 where I end up missing the green.

When i put the hybrid irons during address, I realize that the club face is draw. Could this be the reason for the inaccuracy?

What is the proper setup with this transition hybrid? Should I have the shaft pointing straight to my belt buckle (90 degrees to my stance) and have the club face in the close position and swing normally, or should I have the shaft pointing to the left of my belt buckle (and the club face will be neutral in this position) and then swinig normally?

Anyone could help to shed some light? Many thanks.

I have the same transition set you do, except it only came with the 5 hybrid/baffler (I bought it used), then I bought the 4 hybrid separately and have a Lynx 3 hybrid. I have the opposite problem, as I tend to hit the ball better with my 4 and 5 Cobra bafflers than the 6-iron up (I tend to draw with the irons).

From what I understand from other threads on here, one is supposed to swing your hybrids like you do the irons, as in swinging down on the ball, so you make the divot in the ground slightly ahead of the ball position.

Perhaps since the 3 thru 5 hybrids are longer clubs you are trying to swing too hard, or starting the swing with your arms instead of your hips. Maybe you are trying to sweep up the ball instead of hitting down with the 5-hybrid and lower.

One drill to practice would be to alternate between your 6 iron (or whichever you swing the best with) and the 5 baffler/hybrid. Alternate back and forth one shot each, trying to see if you can get the 5 hybrid swing to match your 6-iron, though the swing-plane should flatten a bit with the longer 5 club.

If that fails then find an instructor who can watch you swing with both clubs and see if they can spot the difference.

2011 Goals:
* Improve club-head speed to 90 mph with the driver
* Ensure increased speed does not compromise accuracy
* Prevent overextending on the back-swing (left-arm is bending too much at the top)
* Relax arms initially at address ( too tense)* Play more full rounds (failed from 2010)

On the 4 and 5 I have they may have a slight draw, but it's not obvious. I don't remember the set being advertised as a draw model.

This is interesting. The transition-s comes with 3-9,pw. Seem like the guy who sold you the used set only sold you half set (6-9,pw) and kept the 3 hybrid irons (3-5i).

I believe the bafflers are actually better hybrids than the ones that come with the transition-s, so you are not losing much. The problem I find is that the hybrids look slightly draw during address. So I'm not sure should I position it such a way that the club face is square, and with the shaft pointing left, or should I address with the shaft straight and the club face pointing to the left.

that is interesting... i might have to rethink a complete set of trans-s and maybe get it piece by piece or half the set an then get individual hybrids for the longer clubs... i really dont need anything complicating my girls learning curve at the moment... but i am going to golf galaxy today... maybe ill talk to a rep about it
