I picked up an older Ping Hoofer, in perfect shape. Sturdy, very light, plenty of storage. Great inexpensive carry bag (got mine for 5 bucks).

Thanks for all the input from everyone. The PING sounds like a good bag, but I have this thing with PING(I know i shouldnt be biased like this but I am). I am thinking about going with the Ogio Ozone. Once again thanks all and keep the suggestions coming!

I have a RAM golf bag - it was £30 (pounds stirling - $43) in a sale on boxing day. Perfectly adaquate for regular use.
Callaway Strike Carry bags are cheap so try them.
Don't go for Jack Nichlaus Carry bags, their stands are useless

The PING is a very good bag, but if you have a thing with PING, don't buy it. The Ogio Ozone for $90 at TGW is a super deal. It's definately worth it. Plus, I think TGW gives you free shipping if you spend over $100...

It makes sense that Titleist bags are made by Sun Mountain; the bags have strikingly similar characteristics. I would still wouldn't buy a Sun Mountain over the Ozone, though.

I'm just wondering if there is a difference between the '08 and '09. I know they offer more colors, but is there anything else?

Here's some pics of my Titleist bag. I really like the look of it, as well as the functionality. It's also nice to have a putter well.

Sorry for another thread but i need advice on a good carry bag. I was thinking Sun Mountain or Ogio but open to any suggestions. Thanks for the input.

Seeing your Titelist Man the Titelist or Sun Mounatin (make Titleist bags) bags should be right up your alley...I have the X86 Titleist bag and so far it is the best carry bag I have ever owned and I have owned the PING Vantage Hoofer, Mizuno GTX, and some other carry bags...however, I like my clubs to be orgainzed and still even with the X86 I somtimes get frustrated with trying to get clubs in and out (whether walking or riding)...so I am currently looking at the Sun Mountain Four 5 bag simply because it has the 14 dividers but it only weighs 4.5 pounds like my X86.

Attachment 1570 I have some PM's out on various websites asking people who own this bag if the 14 dividers really make a difference before I go spend $189...do not know if this helps but good luck with your decision...

TEE - XCG6, 13º, Matrix Ozik HD6.1, stiff
Wilson Staff - Ci11, 3-SW, TX Fligthed, stiff

Odyssey - Metal X #7, 35in

Currently carrying a Titleist. It is sturdy, with good straps, dividers and stand. Mine is not the lightest but it carries well and has great storage.I have learned to carry what I need and leave the rest in the locker. Bags are like clubs, balls, shoes, etc. Personal taste usually determines the choice. Seems as if you are trying to decide between a number of well made bags, Pick out the features you prefer and enjoy your walk.

PINGs are just sweet. The straps are great, they're light, and they last forever.

I agree here... I caddied for 7 years, and I LOVED to carry the Hoofers. I have one from my Sophomore year of HS, and after 10 years, I STILL use it! Can't go wrong with a hoofer. If money is an issue, you can find one used for cheap now. Good quality, and exceptional performance!

In the Bag (right now)...

Taylormade TP Hybrid 17* - Matrix Altus 80X

Nike Forged Blades - 4-W - ProjectX 6.5

Nike VR Black V-Rev 52*, 58*

    • Day 27 - 2026-01-16 Played 18 with some of the usual "too many voices" going on when I'm working on swing stuff. Fun to get out in great bay area winter weather.
    • I know one recent college grad who's trying the same thing.  This guy was a Division III All-American, went on to play one year at Division I LSU, and is not working hard.  He won the Gulf States Open, a pro event, and made it to the second stage of the Korn Ferry Tour School late in the fall.  And didn't make the cut to get to the final stage.  I won't talk about swing or play stuff, but I believe there are a couple of things that are essential.  Obviously, talent, and drive, or work ethic.   I can't tell you how to do it, but you HAVE to get through it.  Golf is going to be your life, and it takes lots of work. Two more things that are really critical.  You'll need the facility to be able to practice.  My young friend stayed in Baton Rouge, as a past player on the team he can still use the LSU practice facilities.  And money.  Its unlikely you'll be able to work a full-time job and practice the way you will need to.  You'll probably need backing, from a parent, from a consortium of friends or club members., something to support you. Good luck, its not an easy path, but anything is possible.  Another young man from our area, Mike Brennan, just won for the first time on the "big" PGA Tour.
    • No one in the world is as smart as Phil thinks he is.
    • Get more comfortable with being uncomfortable. If you don’t like practicing then give up now. You don’t have the passion to become a pro. Unless that mentality changes you won’t do well under stressful situations.    Call the PGA Tour and ask. They probably have resources available.
