Ball Selection: Tee to Green.... or from Green to Tee ?

Green and short game performance. Whats a few yards lost off the tee to not have an unputtable missile on the green.

I pick my balls based off their green and greenside performance. There are enormous differences in spin and feel between certain balls. Distance differences off the tee between balls are not that great.

I suppose a hardcore slicer might choose differently to help their tee shots. But if you slice it that bad, a 3 wood will probably help you more off the tee. Then you would still have a performance ball in case you slice your approach shot 20 yards right of the green.
