not sure if this is the appropriate area but I currently work in the family business and it's more of a part time than anything else. Have'nt found a job since CompUSA closed down. I'm thinking of picking up a job related to Golf since it interests me so much in this part of my life. In CompUSA there would be independant representatives that would come to the store and speak about their products..ie : Sony, panasonic,Samsung,Linksys. Do the big name Companies like Nike,Calloway,Ping have any positions like that, where they go to the Sports Authority's,Dicks,Bass pro shops? anyone know anybody in that particular type of work? (not looking for an open position, just want to know if that exists)

I don't know if your time would allow it, but one trick to possibly finding a job in golf is to volunteer at a golf course (as starter, marshall or whatever). As flopdarock says, most reps are either golf pros or were very good amateur/college players who made connections that way. If you volunteer (or take part-time job making minimum wage there) you'll meet lots of people in golf business, while learning at least a little bit about it. Also consider jobs at golf stores or even sporting good stores that sell golf equipment.

Equipment Rep would be my dream job, I think.

It funny you bring this thread up because I was thinking the same thing this afternoon. But reality kicked in and I thought to myself unless I was independently wealthy, I have two kids in private school and plans for college, I would not try it because I don't think it pays much.

all good points that make sense to me now, I would'nt have assumed there needed to be some sort of skill level or certain status quo in golf to acquire one of those positions but it does make sense. I guess anyone could be sold to train electronics but when it comes to golf they want someone with the experience to teach especially make their product look good.

I'm going to consider it however...at a golf course or at a golf pro shop.
