I noticed when seeing Daly hit his wedge shots it seems to go up and actually "float" higher to the top of his flight..amazing. Is it me or does him seem to "de-accelerate" toward the end of his wedge shot?

I think he just gets so smooth through impact it looks like he decelerates. That or he's using the same backswing but attempting to adjust his distance by fine-tuning his speed at the end. It's probably a bit of both.

John Daly's got some touch. If you've ever seen his Playing Lessons With The Pros episode on The Golf Channel he drains two twenty footers back to back and is pretty key around the greens.

I agree with Erik though, he's probably trying to take a little bit off of it. As for the "floating" part, Daly takes such big divots he's got to have crazy backspin and that would help explain why the ball seems to float.

Having followed JD around Barefoot Resort at Monday After the Masters in Myrtle Beach for a few years, I got a true appreciation for the raw, natural talent that dude has. He approaches the game from a totally different mindset... absolutely nothing technical. Pure feel. What impressed me most was that he was nowhere near as big as I thought he'd be (yeah, he's fat, but he's not that tall), and he doesn't appear to swing hard at all. It's so effortless it's insane. And around the greens, everything he does appears so loose -- but it's usually right on target. Crazy.

How long ago did he switch to Taylor Made? I was watching the Daly Planet the other day and saw he made the switch.
