I'm thinking of buying a Wii to get me through the Chicago winters with the sole purpose of buying Tiger Woods 2009 to keep the golf swing going year round.

For those that have it, how realistic is it? I mean with your swing, does it take into account the major parts of your swing or is it just a flick of the wrist?

It's definintly not a flick of the wrist but it's not nearly as complicated as a true golf swing. It is a blast to play and you can play online with friends. In my humble opinion it won't help your golf swing but it will feed your golf fix and while I have never played Pebble Beach or St. Andrews, the courses on the game sure look like they do on TV.

It's pretty real. Back in the day, I had the worst slice in the history of golf. And I'd have to aim where I'd actually aim in real golf... 30 yards left.

If you set the swing to Advanced Settings, it is very challenging, and slightly realistic. But I don't think it will improve your swing. You will have a great time playing, though, especially with friends.

I agree.

I don't see how this would really help your golf too much, other than to keep the fire stoked when you can't play for real. It's fun entertainment and like he said, cool to "see" the premeire courses up close. The putting is aggravating and not very fluid. My son and I enjoy playing it and that's the extent of it. I was hoping it would be more of a tutorial for him than it turned out to be. Fun as heck for a video game, though. I believe a better winter tune up is a practice putting mat and a weighted club to keep those muscles limber and ready.

It's such a fun game. However, my friend who has never touched a golf club can beat me by at least 2 shots. I have tried to slice it and hook it, but to no avail. It's a really fun game though. If you have Wii, it's definately worth a try. I don't think we tried it with advanced settings though, so no help there.

It's funny because my dad asked me for one for his (and my mother's) anniversary. If I do buy it for them, I'll definately be buying Tiger Woods 09.
