I have a chance to buy some Mizuno MP-60s, but I don't know anything about them, other than they are cut muscle backs. Is that the same as blades?

Anyone ever play with the 60's?

Thanks,

Steve

I've been playing with the Mp-60's this past year. I switched from the TM R7's because I wanted a club that I could move the ball around a little more. They are not a true blade in the traditional sense but they do have a thin top line and the heads are smaller than your average cavity back shovels. The muscle back does provided a little bit of forgivness but you should have a pretty consistant grooved swing if you want to play these. But , who am I. Take them out for a demo and see for yourself. The biggest thing, don't just buy off the shelf. Get fitted for them. The fitting alone will make all the difference not the club.

compare the Mizuno mp60 with the mx25 and mx200 and see which works best for your swing and game.

I would also consider a combo set of mp60 from pw - 7 irons and mx 25 from 6-3 irons

I came from a set of Ping Eye2s, and play 4 or 5-PW in the MP60s, and love the look and feedback. I find them more forgiving than MP32s, mainly due to the sole. I also like the fact that I can have better trajectory control than with my Pings. They're pretty cheap on eBay, so you can buy them, pay to have the lie/lofts adjusted, and depending on the tweaks, you'll have a set of custom clubs for about $250-350.

Also, if you need more forgiving long irons, then check out the MX25s and consider a mixed bag. I've hit a buddy's MX25s, and I think they're more forgiving than my Pings...

I play the MP60's and love them. If you have never played a forged club I would suggest trying them before buying them. They will play different then a cast, cavity back. Forged clubs are not for everyone and unless you are a solid ball striker I would not suggest these clubs.

I have been playing my MP60s for over a year and I still love them. Honeymoon period is not over yet for me. Haha. My previous club was TM Rac LT and MP60s was the first forged club I owned. They definitely look sexy and good player's specs including thin top line, narrow sole, smaller heads, less offset yet with a slight touch of forgiveness with their cut muscle cavity. Very soft at impact which is what Mizzy irons are known for. Good mix of blade and cavity IMO. I will be playing with these for minimum 2 more seasons as I don't see a need to change my irons even with the current number of new irons in the market. Test a Mizzy and you will never look back at any irons. Test it first before you buy it though as my likes might not be the same as yours. Have fun!

Based upon your posted 28 HDCP, these might be a little advanced for you, and I am guessing that the 60's you are looking at are used? Please don't take this the wrong way - if you are looking to become a much better player this type of iron will definitely make you better. Unless you hit it pretty much on the sweet spot everytime, the ball will not go as far or in the direction you want, which will in turn force you to make better swings to get the results you want. I played the 60's for a season and when i was swinging well, they were great, problem was, the swing was not always great. HDCP at the time was approx. 7. They are a terrific club, and after trying them you like them, then get them - they do hold their value well. Good Luck.
