I went in thinking my 6-iron was WAY too upright, and planned to just bring that one to get it checked, but grabbed to entire set anyway just to make sure they were all right.

My 6-ron was the only club with the lie angle. Every other club was 4 degrees too flat. The club fitter told me, that my clubs should look upright at address for the head flattens out as you approach impact.

Man, i felt stupid.

Were you hitting the other clubs fine , but just having issues with the 6 iron ? If that's true , then the other irons would be "correct" for your swing . The two things that determine the right lie for you is a lieboard and the actual ball flight and direction . I'm a taller player , but fit into flatter lies than one would imagine for my size . The key is getting every iron in the bag fitted for your swing .

My set has a "progressive" lie fit ... more upright lies in my longer irons , and progressively flatter lies as I get into my short irons . My local clubfitter set them up for me after hitting every club off a lieboard , and it works great for me . If I miss a shot , I know it's my swing , not the club in my hand . -- K.

Don't know why you felt stupid, you were correct in your feeling that the 6-iron was too upright compared to the rest of the set.

    • Does Justin Thomas have a massively underrated short game? It seems every time I look up he's hitting it close from a tough lie after short siding himself. What masterful touch
    • I freaking hate them. Too expensive, cheaters, food sucks, too dependent on weather, I keep telling myself never do it again but I'm a dummy
    • I enjoyed the A-B-C-D scramble we did at Kittyhawk before it shut down. Yes. The point was to meet the other members and get the season kicked off. Nobody took it too seriously. At least with that group, cheating wasn't a big issue.  As the D part of A-B-C-D, I enjoyed getting to play with one of the Association's top players. One year I played with the city champ. Man could he hit a ball.  It probably isn't something I'd want to do more than once a year, but it has its place.
