Do you think the prices will drop on these clubs now that the new s9-1 series is out. I have the driver but i am in need of a new 3 wood, my current 3 wood has a minor dent on the bottom from accidently dropping the club on a dissapointing shot and hitting the cup for broken tees on the teebox. It is also repainted because the paint began to come of. In summary, it is just terrible. I am thinking of getting this 3 wood because i need help with woods off the fairway. I know I know, you should just learn how to hit the current club but i really don't like the fact of playing tourniments and such with a dented club so i think i will buy a new 3 wood and learn to hit it properly. I think the 3 wood replacement is the way to go because my hybrid and 5 wood are hit well for most par 3's i play and with a 3 wood capable of going for par 5's in 2 i think my game will improve because i would say 95 percent of the time i take a 6 or 7 on par 5's because of the fact that i am too far away and my wood game is terrible i end up having a 150 yard 3rd shot and don't put myself on the green or leave myself with and easy chip to par out. Hopefully with major practice in my putting and short game in the spring and learning to hit this wood will help me to my goal of dropping 5 strokes per 9 holes to get me floating in the 80 range on 18 holes.

I got my 5W pretty recently from gppgolf.com for 109$, which is reduced off of the normal 129$ I had seen most sites discount it to. They have the 3W as well.

If you are a 20 handicap, I would advise against going for the green in 2 on a par 5. I think the 3 wood at your level should primarily be used for teeing off and advancing the ball on a par 5.

Anyways, I would look out for some used clubs. The price should drop, but will and should are different. It also depends on how good or bad the newer S9? is. If you check out eBay, you could find some sweet deals.

The Speed LD F 3 wood is one of the best 3 woods i have hit, at least for my game, I always struggled to hit a wood off the fairway, until I tried the Cobra. It is long and straight, and great off the tee on tight holes. They sell for $129 new, with some great deals on used ones in the shops around here.

I have the older generation Cobra 3 wood and just love it. Aldila 65 shaft in it. I can move it either direction, and it's long... It is such a good club, that i added the first generation LD driver the next year. Once i got past the sound of the driver, I think it is just a great driver. I don't know about the current 3w offering, but if it is anything like their older models, i would highly recommend it. The best thing is that Cobra doesn't hold their value to well, so used clubs can typically be found at very good prices and you typically don't have to worry about the knockoff issues on Ebay that other brands run into.

The weather here yesterday was about 50 degrees and me going insane due to not being able to golf went outside and hit a couple balls. I hit 2 with my current 3 wood. The first shot was the first shot i have taken in 4 months and i sliced it off the toe but that is resonable due to 4 months off and never being able to hit it well. Next shot was perfect, straight as an arrow and jumped off the face. Now the only question i have is that the lie from my yard is proabably more "fluffier" than that of a fairway. Do you think the tight fairway will present a problem?.... I also hit my new driver.... First shot was big slice but i was trying to kill it and hit it off the heel. Next shot was a bit more controlled swing but also hit it off the heel. I think i was set up too close to the ball and i swung outside of the ball and hit it off the heel of the club. I can't wait to get to the range when it warms up and get my swing back in tune and then smack this bad boy.

Hit the 3 wood again today because the weather once again cooperated and had a little slice. Would be highly playable though, maybe in a bunker near the green but i would probably recover out of there better than i would my 3rd shot being from 120 out.

This is good to hear, the woods being long and straight. Like i said prevously i hit my 3 wood of the ground in my yard but that lie is better than the tight fairway. I love the driver from cobra and i think the matching 3 wood will help my game on par 5's and on some tight par 4's. Then i would probably look to get the matching 5 wood or a hybrid replacement for 5 wood.

    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.

    • Day 32 (12 Dec 25) - What was the Friday shootout became a practice round due to lack of enough players (temps kept a lot of the regulars home).  Used it to dial in some playing distances as I played back a set of tees to force alternate club selections.  Plenty of long approaches - every club was put into action thru the course is 18 holes. Was not a GiR day but rather nGIR (5 up and down pars).  Pin placement was tough - the smallest miss would see the ball roll just as far past or even off the green.  Was a great day of battling what the course was dealing. Overall - I finished 5 strokes over my average score of 86.
