Unfortunately there isn't a ShaftLab nearby. I've been to GolfSmith a couple of times, but have found them to be absolutely no help.

I picked up a Cobra L4V 10.5* with the stock regular flex shaft. When I hit it perfect, it's pretty long. Unfortunately, I hit it really high a lot of the times and I'm kind of spraying it left and right inconsistently. Not really a hook/slice or draw/fade.. but more of a slight push/pull. I'm wondering if this could be caused by the shaft being too flexible.

I would like to put another shaft in it, but genuinely don't know what to try. My swing speed is right at 103. I'm thinking of dropping a stiffer shaft of some sort in it and seeing what happens. Any recommendations? (prefer to keep it under $100) Right now I'm sort of leaning toward the Aldila NV 65...

I'm really curious about the Grafalloy Red (low launch)... does it seem stupid to have a 10.5 degree driver with a low launch shaft?

It is not stupid to put a low launch shaft in a 10.5* head. I would recommend the Grafalloy ProLite, which can be found on eBay for $35 with shipping. Also look at the Aldila NV and ProLaunch Red shafts are reasonably priced

Good luck

The NV shaft is going to have a softer tip than the ProLaunch, so i would try that first because that will give you a lower ball flight than most of the Aldila NV line.

I have worked and studied golf shafts a lot! I can honestly tell you that becasue the stock manufacutre shafts are mass produced they are horrible quality. They do not usually fit the players game who purchases them. Buying a low launching mid spin shaft (which is ideal for distance) will cost you more than $100. I would recomend looking at the aldila voodoo on ebay. It retails for $300 but you can pick it up on ebay for about 125-150. It is a sweet shaft that is low launching mid spinning which will give you that run out after it lands and its dispersion is pretty tight keeping it in the short grass.

Try a Prolaunch V2 stiff in a 65 or even a 75 gram shaft. They are very, very consistant shafts. I'm playing one in a too stiff shaft for me. But WOW is that first kick after touchdown amazing! One of the best shafts for the money.
