Ok, i've been looking for a new driver for a little while now but have been left thoroughly underwhelmed by the latest offerings from the big names (i've been a titleist man for a good five years now, 983 and now 905 but they haven't come out with any improvements since!). For this reason i'm looking at getting fitted for a non OEM driver-head and specifically a Wishon 525 GRT. I'd just like to know what the experience of others has been with Wishon components and if they would recommend them? Cheers, Jenks.

Well, I play a Wishon 949MC 16.5º 4 Wood with a Precision Saber 65gr shaft, and it´s a superb club. It gained a place in the Golfdigest 2008 hotlist.
I´ve also played Wishon 550 M/C irons, wonderful irons.
Wishon has a very very solid stuff. The key is to find the right fitting for you, but don´t be afraid.

I play the 949mc 9*! Fantastic head design. Wishon Golf is at the forefront of today's clubhead technology. The real key is in the fitter though. Check out their clubmaker locator for help in getting fit.

Thanks for the opinions guys! I can't find anyone with a bad word to say about Wishon equipment so i'm just surprised that i've never seen anyone using it!(money talks I suppose ). I've got a fitting booked with the local Wishon certified clubmaker who is a former winner of the international club maker of the year, so hopefully the fitting will be as good as it gets!

Went for my fitting today, what an eye opening experience! My old driver was supposed to be a 9.5* stiff but actually turned out to be 10.7* X flex! Was fitted for a 9.5* (true loft this time!) 525 GRT with a regular flex, 64 gram, Matrix studio shaft that feels so much easier to swing! Also got the shaft in my 3-wood changed to a Matrix 74 gram regular as that was overly stiff for me as well. Can't wait to get to the course with these beauties and no more wondering where equipment is concerned!
PS. The Wishon driver head came to £160 (I think thats about $200 these days).

I just went through a fitting this past weekend and Wishon clubs are probably going to be my next investment. The ones I looked at are very similar to Mizunos and I hit the ball very good with them. Their woods are HOT!! The ball jumps off the club face. They are expensive though, but not a lot higher than your normal Titleist, Ping, etc...sets. I think the Driver that I was fitted for with an Aldila shaft was like 300 bucks. He is going to make me a weet deal too!!

I was afraid about the brand because I had never heard of them but the more I read the more I an not so worried about going that route.

ive always wanted to try that Wishon 0.9ol non-conforming driver head that has a COR of over .900. has anyone here ever hit that thing? i'd love to know how it feels

Congrats, and many happy rounds! Sounds like you went the correct route and found a good fitter. As others noted before, that's a key component.

I've had my set for almost two years and can't say enough good things about the clubs or their customer service. Twice when I had questions I wrote to the company and got replies back both times from Mr. Wishon himself. The guy is adament that anything with his name on it is the best, and personally steps in at any level to ensure it.

( To bogeyhitter25: the price varies depending on head and shaft options, but unless you go nuts with something like Matrix Oziks or or the like, the price will be comparable to other brands. You might even get away cheaper. When I was starting out my fitter recommended I not buy a full set until my swing could handle longer irons, so I came home with 3-wood, 4-H, and 6-SW all for around $600 bucks, plus 50 for the fitting. As I got better I added to the bag. Tough to do that with off-the-rack at retail outlets. And a REAL custom fitting is so much better than a 5-minute launch pad guestimation. ...)

Bag It:

3-Wood Wishon 525 F/D, 13*, Matrix Studio 65gm, Golf Pride Dual Compound
Hybrid: Wishon "321", 24*, MSF 85 HB, Winn DSI
Irons: Wishon 770CFE, Matrix Studio 74gm, Winn DSI

Putter: Odyssey DFX 2-Ball

Bag: Some big, honkin', ridiculous overkill of an Ogio cart bag with more pockets than I have teeth.

The other good thing about going this route is the fitter keeps your information on file. So any change that you need, you can just ship it to him and he can make the change and send it back. With the face tape, I could hit 6 or 7 balls with the 6i and the circle in the middle of the tape would be gone. That is how close he got my ball striking during my fitting! I will take that any day of the week. The prices I was quoted are a little higher that what you have but that may be because of the shafts and heads. I wanted the 555 MB( I think). The only thing I didn't like was that he builds all of his sets with a 3h and 4h. I don't like hitting hybrids as well as irons.

I can't wait until I get the money to get the set!! And I second that on a "Real" custom fitting. All of the things they did were very detailed.

i have played them and used to custom build them. the problem with the .900 cor head is that you have to hit the ball dead solid perfect to get the full effect of the .900 cor spring effect. the best "hot faced" driver i've found is the cobra 440z. a very nice club
!!!!!!!!. wishon drivers tend to hit the ball on a lower trajectory. 10* is more like an 8.5 or even an 8* i found. all in all...wishon products are as good as anything made including the most expensive. tom wishon has a passion for excellence in his products. you can't go wrong.
