I thought I was set on the tour edge xcg-v 18* hybrid but with the adams speedline hybrid-fairway woods now on the market I was wondering if they will be similar in distance, accuracy, and forgiveness. Because the speedline is $70 dollars less than the xcg-v it will allow me to test some of the new golf balls that are coming out. I may not be able to test the clubs outside but I can hit them inside and I want to buy them when golfers warehouse has their store wide sale.

I personally dont think the adams compares to the xcg or xcg-v, however I havent hit adams new line.

I havent found any line that compares to the exotics in terms of distance though. They are easily 10 yards longer in the hybrids and 15 or more in the fairway woods.

I like tour edge stuff and have played a lot of it over the years. I wouldn't worry so much about maximum distance in your hybrid, thats an issue for 1w and 3w purchases. Does it have the right combination of playabilty for you. Dist., height, use off fairway, tee, rough. forgiveness etc. Especially since shaft lengths and lofts vary greatly in hybrids. If xcg-v gives you the best combination for you, and you can afford it buy it. Nickent, ADAMS, even Bobby Jones make some great hybrids that don't get a lot of credit. It just depends on what you want it to do. If maximum length is the issue you are probably going to hit a 5wd farther.

I agree with this. I would spend the most time considering how you will play these hybrids, and make sure the club you choose, fits your needs. Personally, I like the G5. It plays well off the tee, off tight lies, and it's slightly rounded sole makes it more versatile out of the rough and uneven lies. Often times, the hybrids with flatter soles make the shots out of the rough and uneven lies more difficult to execute. Quality wise, they are both good. Just think through your need.

Agree with the above post... think less about which manufacturor/brand of club and more about what you will use it for. If you're happy with your setup of Driver + 3 wood off the tee, then it comes down to which you'll be more comfortable hitting off the fairway/rough. For me, my hybrid is easily my first choice from these lies, but that's just me. I got rid of my 5 wood because I just never used it... already had the 3 wood for an alternative tee shot and love my hybrid for pretty much everything else.

Also, it depends on the exact lofts, but I found I gave up some distance when I chose my hybrid over the fairway metal.
