As far as i understand it, he could receive the prize money if he gives up his amateur status, but he prefers to stay amateur to play the Masters, which he probably wouldnt have the chance if he turns pro immediately.

I wish him well.

This just shows how hard it is to get to "that" level. Danny has lots of work to do be able to do this week in and week out. He has to continue to put in his practice time, he has to battle fame and the heightened expectations and lowered privacy that comes with it, he has to keep the narrow focus on golf as more social distractions come into play as he gets into his early 20's, and lastly he has to stay relatively injury free.
