Cleveland golf

I was wondering why Cleveland doesn't get as much hype as say TM or Ping? I was swinging a XLS in the shop the other day and it felt very nice. But so did the ping. With all the peircings I have I like to be different and am thinking of going with buying a HiBore XLS when I get the money (tired of playing a northwestern. It's OOOLD). I was just wondering if it is that bad that it really doesn't get the fame that the others get.

I've wondered this too. I think Cleveland clubs are terrific. Having said that so are PING, TM, Titleist etc. I guess a lot of it is marketing. My personal opinion is that Cleveland are every bit as "good", "inovative" and definitely they are more friendly priced than the other competitors.

I think Cleveland started as a clone company and aren't as old as the others-something to do with it I guess. I'd say for anyone looking at buying stuff from the bigger boys it would be worth comparing some Cleveland clubs and saving a good bit if its favourable comparison

Cleveland "showed up" big time when the Launcher came out. Man...what a hot driver.

I suppose it's the fact that Callaway, TM, Titleist and PING have been marketing their woods for many years longer than Cleveland????

There is also the fact that of the vast numbers of tour pro's endorsing the other big name sticks.

I think they make some great clubs.

As a newbie, when I was looking for a Driver and fairway woods, I did a lot of searching. I think what sold me was watching a series of PGA teaching Pros videos, where several of the Pros were using Cleveland Clubs. They weren't Tour Pros, I guessed they weren't getting big endorsements, and figured they knew a lot more about golf than I did, so I tried the Launcher series, and loved them.

It comes down to simple economics. The "Big Boys" of the golf industry have a seemingly unlimited amount of marketing budgets, so they can afford to put their logos and clubs in the hands of the better tour pro's. Cleveland's equipment is just as good as the others, Vijay Singh still plays Cleveland. Find the Darrell Survey and I'll bet Cleveland wedges are second to Vokey in the bags of touring pro's.

I've wondered that too. All I can tell you is I love my Cleveland clubs. They are all a few years old now, but I don't see myself replacing them anytime soon. Great clubs.

Cleveland makes a great club. It is about the economics of it all.

Mizuno for irons. Cleveland for woods. I have Titleist wedges, but wish Id at least tried Cleveland's wedges. Im so impressed by the new launcher and the hi bore xls. I have hibore xls driver with a draw face-its become one of my fave clubs-funny as I used to avoid drivers! The xls hybrids are also excellent. Its almost impossible for me to not hit them high and straight.

I personally love Cleveland clubs. Their irons, wedges, and putters have amazing feel to them, and aren't ridiculously priced.

Ok youu guessed it, I'm quite biased towards Cleveland, since they make my woods and hybrids and they work for me. I think most people feel that way about a brand when it works for them. But one thing I also noticed is that I don't hear many negative stories/opinions about Cleveland gear. Either on here or in the magazines, it all seems positive on pretty much all fronts. The only thing I here is that the HiBore XLS driver is a little loud, and however you hit it it still sounds like you hit it 300 yards-not sure if I like it or not for that. I prefer the new launcher for sound and feel. But the HiBores results can't be faulted, so not enough to put me off.

I've never tried a Cleveland putter-never ever consider them really.

I'm guessing Cleveland is gonna go from strength to strength now Srixon has bought it. Or maybe it could work the other way? I like Srixon balls too-so they got a good set up there!

Marketing. Cleveland doesnt spend anywhere near as much money on advertising and sponsoring top players as does TM, Titleist and Callaway.
People see the top pros winning every week and being sponsored by TM, Titleist and Callaway and they think the reason those guys win is because of the equipment, not realizing that those pros would probably still be winning no matter what brand of equipment they were using.

I love my Launcher driver with Prolaunch blue stiff shaft that I got used in good condition with headcover for $70. I have been seriously considering a Classic #1 Cleveland putter for the very reasonable new price of $70. In a way I'm glad Cleveland doesn't get the recognition or have the marketing capability of some of the larger manufacturers, because it seems to keep the price down on their apparently excellent equipment.
