A was able to try out some various models of SC's this weekend at Golf Galaxy and I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on where to buy one at.
Anyone purchased from eBay for the cost savings? Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

P.S. I found I liked the Studio Select Newport 2 over the CIRCA '62 No. 3.

I got my Scotty on ebay. It was actually from a local shop called Dallas Golf. Mint condition, $150. As long as you stick with a seller that you trust, you should be fine on ebay, IMO.

I don't think it really matters a whole lot where you buy it, Titleist has all the vendors set their pricing up pretty much the same.

Ebay is really probably the only place you'll get a discount and there you take the risk of getting ripped off.

I bought my current scotty from TGW, which I liked it since they let you play with it for a month and if you don't like it you can return it for a store credit. My previous one I bought of ebay with no problems.

I got mine on ebay. I think I saved about 50 bucks. I'd probably do it again if I could find the EXACT one I wanted. I made the mistake of gettinga putter that's one inch too long.

I bought a Circa 62 #3 new off of eBay and saved about $100 off of retail. If you are patient you can get them for a reasonable price. I have bought more than one putter off of eBay, that is one piece of equipment that seems to be well kept. I just bought a used Ping Redwood Anser that was used but it was in pristine condition.

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

Best place to buy off the rack putters is eBay. I sold a used Circa for $150 before, bought new Odyssey Black Series i #9 for $220. Plenty of good deals out there as long as you buy from a reputable seller.

You can do pretty good on Ebay, you just have to make sure you buy from a reputable seller. As long as someone have a feedback score of over 1,000 and their rating is 99% of higher, Id say you are pretty safe.
Last year I bought a used Cameron Red-X (it had maybe 1 or 2 little nicks on it and didnt have a headcover) for $150.
Ive seen other Camerons go for $200-250, so there are deals to be found, but if you are looking at a Newport, you might be better off to just pay full price and buy one from a Titleist dealer.
You wouldnt believe what some people will pay for Newports on Ebay. I dont know if they get caught up in wanting to win the auction and forget that they can just buy one new for $300 or they think its some rare Cameron that is somehow worth more money or whatever, but people get nuts on Ebay auctions sometimes...

Golf forums like this one and others are also great places to find deals, and also avoid the hassle of watching an auction on eBay. I recently picked up an older Scotty in great shape for $100 USD shipped. My first one...can't wait to try it on the grass.

You will never go back to anything else (OK, maybe that's stretching it). I got mine back in 2000 (Newport Mil-Spec, 340g, 34", 4* lofT) and haven't used another putter since. Something about mallets just don't sit well with me, so I haven't tried any of his more radical designs.

I would be very careful about buying on eBay. I think it is probably fine for used Scotty's, but I personally wouldn't trust buying a new model on eBay. During my last business trip in China I saw a lot SC clubs in the stores and markets in Shanghai and Shenzhen , and even knowing they were counterfeit I had a hard time distinguishing from authentic - even the plasting shipping bag, headcover, etc look factory!

This is definitely a reason I'm hesitant to purchase a new SC putter off eBay.

Unless you have some sort of an "in" with someone within the industry, I believe Ebay is the best bet.

"Be careful about buying on eBay" is sound advice. Don't be afraid of ebay, just be careful.

You have to buy from a reputable ebay seller. If it's legit, they should have no problem backing it up. Ask questions, if you don't get an answer back, bypass that seller. Like I said above - I bought two, new , on ebay. I also did my homework and made sure they were good before I bid. (After both purchases I sent them to SC studio for verification and got one customized.)
