I need some input. Im looking to go on a golf trip for about 3 days, and was wondering where I should go. I was looking into TPC Sawgrass, but that's a little pricey. Any recommendations on some great golf, without breaking the bank. Im looking to stay on the east coast, preferably Florida or one of the Carolinas.

Myrtle Beach has a lot of courses and quite a bit of stuff to do, but if lower cost is important to you look into the Santee, SC area. It's quite a bit cheaper than a Myrtle trip. There is not a lot of other stuff to do and less courses, but you can play a lot more golf for less money. Just do a search via Google (or whatever engine you use) for Santee Golf and you'll find some information. It's a little north and west of Charleston, SC.

It's hard to argue with Myrtle. You can find packages for as little as $60 a night (including golf, lodging, and breakfast). I just got a quote from The Glens. For 4 people they quoted us $433 for a 3 night stay, and through in complimentary replays on Saturday and Sunday.

I'd love you to come down and spend your money in FL.......but I've got to agree that driving past Myrtle to get here for a 3 day trip doesn't make much sense.

The only issue could be some difference in the weather, but honestly, this time of year you should be fine.

If you do want to drive the extra distance and don't mind spending the money, you can come down to St Augustine, see the Golf Hall of Fame, play the two courses there, and hit the TPC at Sawgrass all in the same trip. 30 minutes south of there is Palm Coast and Hammock Dunes. Doing so will prob add at least a full days drive to the trip and would be a lot more expensive though.

For a quick spring getaway, I'd do Myrtle.

can't argue with myrtle if those are the states your looking at. Try the Dunes course by RTJ its a good track.

One destination you may look at would be Montgomerie Alabama at the Capital Courses on the RTJ trail. It has a great quiet hotel and the three courses that are there make for three great days of golf.

If you want to have stuff other than golf to do... Myrtle is definately good, and you can fit it into any price range. However if you want to play the best golf... go to the Sandhills of NC... they have Pinehurst (8 Courses), Pine Needles and a whole slew of top notch courses in the area. This area can be done at pretty much any price point as well. Not sure when you are going, but some destinations are obviously better at certain times of the year.

edit: didn't notice someone resurrected an old thread... my input was too late. Alcorn... why are you resurrecting old threads when the OP says they have made a decision?

    • Day 81 (21 July 25) - Soft hands drill work today w/9i in the backyard.  Focused on keeping the hands quiet and getting a nice hop and roll.  Kept shots to about 20 yds or less.
    • 39/39/78 for an 8.7 differential. Ball striking was good. Putting and chipping was off just enough to prevent a very good score.
    • Worst thing on Sunday was that NBC and Peacock wouldn't let me FF through the commercials on my DVR recording. Very boring when a guy has a huge lead on the final round and everyone else is playing for 2nd place. At least it was USA 1-2-3 in the end.
    • First day of a trip to Bandon Dunes. We played Sheep Ranch today. A Coore/Crenshaw designed course. A par 34 on the front and 38 on the back. With 8 holes with either a green, tee box, or the hole runs along the edge of the bluffs at the pacific. It has amazing vistas. With wide fairways and intermixed gorse bushes. The defense of the course are its large, undulated greens and the daily winds from the north. Many times you need to take 3-4 clubs more, if you even barely cross the wind, your ball can be taken offline or come up half to a full club short. A fantastic layout.    here are some photos.
    • At Sheep’s Ranch, Bandon Dunes. Shot an 84. That wind was nasty going from like hole 7 forward. It was like a 3-4 club wind if in the face. Greens are tricky with the natural grass.
