I have not played Eagle Ridge yet, but probably will this summer. I have played Hidden Cove several times and count it among my favorite courses in KY. I don't really have any tips for it, though, because it's a pretty straight-forward course.

As long as you are in KY, it might be worth your time to drive to Mt. Sterling and play Old Silo, another of the best courses in KY. It's a real bear of a course, but lots of fun and always in great shape. It's just about 70 miles or so from Grayson on I-64 toward Lexington, KY (it might be less mileage- I can't remember exactly). In the 'Best Public Courses in KY' lists, it's usually among the top 5 courses (along with Hidden Cove).

Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville, Ky off of highway 25e.
Is a State resort course. Its awesome. 15 of the 18 holes has water on them.

I've played Eagle Ridge a few times. If it's dry, it can be an extremely difficult layout.
I'm sure you've already played it though, by the time I've replied. I would also recommend Stone Crest in nearby Prestonsburg. I haven't played it, but my in-laws swear it's one of the nicest courses they've played and they play all over the country.

    • Day 51 (yesterday was 50, not 59 -- that was a typo).  I didn't have a ton of time today.  I hit a dozen balls with a 6-iron in my practice room.   Amazingly, after this I did the ShotScope analysis of yesterday's round;  my approach play was at the 5 hcp level.  That's pretty darn good, but unfortunately for my score, some of that came from hitting a few good recovery shots.  But I also hit some really good approach shots that weren't from trouble!

    • Day 295 6-26 Low point control with towel again. Getting better but not swinging fast enough tonight.
    • Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.
    • I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.
