Played nine holes this morning and then found out the my Sumo 4 hybird finally arrived.

Back out to the range I went. It was windy (left-to-right, back in my face)and even using range balls the results were awesome.

I'm smitten with this club.....great distance that is all carry.

The range turf was ridled with fresh divots and nasty places to hit from. I purposely rolled my ball into the worst lies that I could simulate and swung away. It just didn't seem to matter....results were super each time.

I can't wait until my next round of golf.....probably on Monday. I'm going to "lay-up" to 185 yards every chance I get....just to hit this stick.

There is no question about it....I'll be replacing another iron with one more of these sticks...real soon. Super ball flight. It's just too easy.

Never before have I been this jazzed up about a new club....that wasn't a driver of putter.

I got my SQ sumo 18* hybrid (traditional round head) last week. It has a nice feel and a nice sound to it. I don't think it is quite as easy to hit as my previous cleveland hibore but it is still a very nice club, very solid.

I laid off the game for a long while and got back in almost a year ago. I tried a hybrid....PING G10....15 degree.

It just didn't work for me. I wrote off all hybrids as a result.

Fast forward several months and I'm playing with some guys...one of them was hitting some unreal shots from 175-200 yards. He played three of the NIKE SUMO sq. hybrids.

We were talking about them and he offered me some range time with his sticks which I gladly accepted. All I can say is that I was very happy with the results. Next time in the pro shop I ordered one.

Now...I'm thinking I should have gone ahead and ordered the 2 and 3 also.

The set up really suits me. I never thought I'd go for a squared head...but it is just too easy to hit. So ugly you have got to love it, I suppose. Towering shots from the 175-200 yd range haven't been my forte....until now.

thats exactly the way i feel about my new Nickent 5DX hybrid. im going to get another one as well. these new hybrids are MONEY! sooooo much better than the previous Hook Machines like the Callaway FT Hybrids. a lot of people just cant stand the squarish heads, but the results speak for themselves (long, forgiving, and STRAIGHT). i love em

i am in the bandwagon of hybrids are the greatest thing since sliced bread. I just went and picked up a replacement for my old steel shafted hybrid. My new one is a nickent 3dx dc 4 ironwood. This thing is slick. Hope your nike hybrid works wonders for you as i sure hope mine does the same

Long, straight and high . The ball comes down so soft it's stupid. I can't believe the comparison between this 4H and my normal 185 club.....unreal.

Thank you Nike....thank you Mitsubishi.....thank you anyone that had anything to do with the design of this stick. Really looking forward to my next round.

Long, straight and

thats great that you love your hybrid. I used to love my old tm burner hybrid, but then i got alot stronger and it became a hook machine. I love the feeling of a nice hybrid from 200, its a great shot shape. Luckily though i increased my ss by a ton, and am achieving the same ball flight with my 5 iron. My spin rate is almost becoming a burden, but i cannot find a shaft that launches lower than my s300's...maybe the x100's.

Awesome results with your irons. I've always prided myself on my long iron play....but this thing is sooooo easy to hit. Precision isn't even in the top three in regards to factors in the "swing equation". Just make an atempt and it works out fine.

I had finished my round already and was in the pro shop and told that it had just come in. They unpacked it and handed it over. Went straight over to our range and took it along with my 7wood and 4 iron and hit a bucket of balls.

Distance was between my 7wood and 4 iron as I'd hoped but the high trajectory and ease of stroking it was not fully expected....unreal. I'm confidnent of forced carries with this stick. We have an island par three that I'm looking forward to playing again. Anyway.....while hitting that bucket I dropped several balls in hardpan divots to see the results. I also put some in the deepest grass I could find on the boarder to our range...it was deep winter rye. The hardpan lies yeilded great results...even when I thinned it. The club is very vertically forgiving....something that I really....really need. The deep grass shots turned out well, too.....just a little shorter distance and slightly lower trajectory....sort of like a shot hit 90%. The shorter iron-length shaft allows for a steeper decent on the embedded ball....much better results than with my 7 wood. I didn't try it out of our practice bunker. The bunker is fairly deep and I would have needed to aim back towards the other golfers moreso in order to hit it. I'll give it a whirl on Monday from a bunker. I'm pulling the 3 iron and going with another Nike hybrid as well. It's just so much easier to hit than the 7wood. I marvel at the fact that a whole new type of club has become so widely used during my brief hiatus from golf. I brushed off the hybrids when I started playing again....priding myself as being an okay long iron hitter. I'm not so proud anymore....the added trajectory alone is reason enough. My only fear is the windy rounds. I'll have to work on delofting them and make a knockdown shot of sorts. I'll enjoy the range time, now.

Played 18 this morning.

The 4H proved over and over to be a versatile and easy to hit weapon.

It really got some use on the back nine....number 10 hole, in fact. I hit a solid drive but it was pulled just a bit....landed in a left fairway bunker....165 yards to the center of the elevated green....big lip ahead of my ball....fluffy sand....stance not so great...left foot well above right. Gripped down an inch and swung smooth. Ball lept up and carried to the front of the green. I was still in the hole putting for birdie (made par).

Two holes later I hit a big hook into the wind on an elevated par 5. The ball carried the left side fairway bunker but landed on the downslope and kicked hard accross the left into some pines coming to rest on a hardpan lie. It was nasty at best. I picked it clean with the 4H and the ball went into a high draw coming to rest nicely back into the fairway some 175 yards ahead....leaving a wedge approach. I thought I was doomed.

This story was repeated on the 18th hole. Hit another pulled drive into the left fairway bunker.....had a freakish stance and could only give it 3/4 swing and stay balanced. I did so and the ball went perfectly up.....way up...and carried to the front fringe of the elevated green....about 160 yards....plus elevation....plus a right to left wind quartering in my face.

I suppose this club is going to soon raise itself to "hero" status amoung all the clubs I've ever owned. It's off to a fine start after one small bucket of balls and a round of golf a weekend later.

your stories sound familiar...............

I have both the 3 and 4 SQ Squared hybrids and I love them as well..... throw in my Nike 5 wood in the same style and I'm shooting similar clubs from the 185-265 yard distance ranges.........

yep, good clubs.....

and I'll have to disagree w/ them being ugly..... I think they're actually pretty sharp clubs.....

now the Square Driver I wouldn't say that about.......

Personally, I went through a bag load of hybrids that i HATED. This went on for a few years until I finally found the Adams Pro Gold. So I know what it feels like, hybrids are the greatest. I still carry my long irons, but carry a hybrid as a 5 wood replacement. Great Club!

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
