I bought a bunch of components online and had a question for the forum. Does anyone here have their hybrids shafted with a graphite iron shaft? If so any feedback? I would also take any other thoughts someone might want to contribute.

Thanks!

hey well I have 2 Callaway Big Bertha Heavenwoods with graphite shafts in them and I get great distance (230 yards with 5 hybrid when regular 5 iron goes 200.) I'm not totally sure if the shafts are iron shafts or not (probably). But, i love the feel of them. Even on mishits, it still feels smooth and soft at impact. I hope this helps. (also, try the callaway big bertha heavenwoods, they have a great sound and feel.)

Have a good one.

You more than likely can't put a shaft from an iron into a hybrid because the tip would be a different diameter. However, cutting an inch and a half or so on the hybrid shaft would give you a similar effect.

you can search for your hybrid and get the tip specs. I use a graphite design YS shaft in mine. I know a lot of people won't do this...but my diamana shaft wouldn't fit into my hiborexl. I had to have it shimmed to fill in and fit the head...but doesn't effect the playability any.. as long as you have a good club maker that knows what he/she's doing, they can make a thinner tip fit into a larger diameter head (within reason).

I personally like a heavier shaft for my 3 wood and hybrid than what's in my driver. my driver is a diamana white board 63. everything else is in the 80 gram range.....

Actually, most Hybrids use a .370 dia shaft.....same as most irons.

There WILL be times where a shim is needed...no biggie.

Can anyone recommend a good graphite shaft for under $30.00 to match up with my Bang Hybrids?

My swing speed is between 70-75 mph with a moderately aggressive downswing. Looking to gain a little more distance, but also accuracy.

    • An you still took several minutes to write several posts and talk to sound engineers. I appreciate that you did!  So they basically tell you is possible but you need to be very restrictive. The same thing I found on my research.  Temperature: is not going to change much between swing A and swing B. Distance of max club head: even the PRGR take the fastest speed recorded, not the speed at the ball. But this could be diminish by swinging several times each swing and average the results.  Angles: also PRGR returns less speed swinging on a certain degree.  Clubface orientation: it is also an issue with launch monitors that are not reading the center of the mass of the club. You can have a lot more club speed if your face rotation is higher and your lunch monitor is reading the toe of the club. "Other stuff in the room": are the same from swing A to B, or you can just swing naked! haha  This is the main idea, I have a PRGR and Skytrak. There are plenty of people, more here in Argentina, that can't afford a launch monitor. Also wanted to share the idea and let it be challenged by others. I don't mind been wrong, is part of experimenting.  I did and all the swings were close to 85 dbs, me swinging at 90 m/h. But I don't mind doing a proper test later in the afternoon writing down the results. I need to find and app that also have frequencies in order to test both.
    • Always kinda looked that way. They're pretty standard length… he's a tall dude though.
    • Now it's not too early.  Strong US start - 5 pairings out now. Is it just me?  or does Tony Finau's clubs look just too short for him?
