Got a chance to try these this weekend and I have to say Im quite impressed. The stick well off the scoring irons and do pretty good on the green as while. They are not as good as a pro-v1 or b330rx but for $15/12 you can not beat it.

I just switched to this ball in the past two weeks!! I found one on the course that some poor guy lost...and I tried it out for one hole..then another,,,and another..until I finished up the round. I figured I'd buy a dozen to see if I'd like em' and I gotta say...they DO bite on the green and they have great feel with the irons and do measureably well off the tee with a driver. I have bought Pro-V's , Callaway HX Tour, Taylor Made TP Blacks, Bridgestone RX330 and seriously...not one of these balls performs any better than the HX Hot Bite for the money. I don't mind spending the money on a good product if it will help my game...but sometimes...you have to accept the fact that you are not Tiger Woods with a swing speed of a stealth bomber and that you don't have that smooth silky swing of Fred Couples.

Tools of my game:
Burner 09' Driver 10.5 Reg flex
5-pw G10's/ plus Taylormade R7 4 iron
Burner 08' 4 Hybrid
A70S 3 Hybrid Burner 09' 3 wood "Zing" SW 56 degree Fastback Laser range finder / plus Skycaddie SG5...also a great ball retriever!!

I was using one of these yesterday. Hit one shot out of a bunker that I thought was going to hit and fly across the green. Got up and realized it had stuck like glue.

That sells me on it for the cost :)

I played two rounds and they seemed to be about as durable as the 07 prov1s for me. My wedges dont usually tear up balls that much though.

1st ball lasted me about 20 holes and the next one was still playable at the end of the round.

Curious where in texas you are?

I really like the Hot Bite. Much more than the NXT Tour. But I bought 12 dozen Burner TPs on sale at $12per dozen so I'm pretty set. I did hear about th e$5/doz of hot bites, but didn't think my walmarts would have any at that price.

I did a lot of research a little while ago, and the general consensus is the Hot Bite is not a durable ball. But ball durability seems to matter much more when your taking full shots with aggressively grooved wedges.......

I'd rate burner tps at the top (more experience with it) then hot bites. both much better than nxt tours in my opinion. And none spin for me on greenside chips as much as the v1s or v1xs.

My local Wal-Mart had them for $5/dozen. I then proceeded to buy 10 dozen.

OK... my F-ing Wal-mart doesn't have them. I have been wanting to try these balls too.

Right now I'm playing the same ball I've been playing the past year and a half... the Maxfli Fire, which is a 3-piece that I'm finding for $10 at Dick's. It plays about like an NXT Tour, but with a touch less spin, but more distance. It has decent feel, some check, and great distance. I just bought 4 more dozen and have 8 dozen total... should last the summer and then some.

Tried these last year and found the cover to be easily damaged on full wedge shots; the ball looked like it sprouted whiskers . Great ball, but fragile.

Argghhhhh. That would have been a steal at $12-15. I've game the Hot Bite and liked them well.

The Callaway and Titleist balls I've usually seen in Walmart and named something different than the ones in the pro-shops....so I never really knew which ball was which. I played the E5+ for so long and have just started experimenting with different balls lately....just for fun. May very well settle back in with the E5+ again before it's all over.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
