So, I am looking for a good deal on a new set of Mizuno MP 52's. What I am debating is PW vs. 47 Degree MP T Wedge. Any thoughts on getting the set's PW over the MP T series (or vice versa)?

They both are 47* with a bounce of 5*. It's just going to come down to aesthetics. Would you prefer to play with a wedge that looks like a blade? Do you want a PW with a different finish?

I will probably go with the chrome finish (to match the 51 degree gap I ordered). I really like the sole of the MP T (the C Grind). It's a lot different than the sole of the PW.

Just a couple questions: 1. Is your handicap correct at 16? 2. What do you primarily use your PW for?

If your handicap is a legit 16, ballstriking could be an issue. In that case, a cavity would probably help more than a blade style wedge. If you use your PW primarily from the fairway on full shots, then why get a traditional style wedge? You'd want your gaps to be consistent as possible. If you use your PW around the greens, that's a different story. The MP-T wedges certainly have better control than MP-52 and it may be beneficial to buy the MP-T instead.

The biggest numbers in my score are from short game and somewhat from my current irons. Based on the fitting I had, my current irons are 1/2in short and 2 degress flat from what I need. I do top the ball or hit it fat as a result of leaning too far over.

Would the MP-T not be a good idea for full shots? For the most part, right now my PW is used at 120yrd full shots. I use my 56 degree around the greens the most. I am still working on my pitch technique.

I have a mixed mizuno set as you will see in MY BAG. I went with the Titleist 200 series wedge and have not looked back. Mizuno makes a good pitching wedge but i get more playability on knock downs and feel shots with the titleist.

Just my $.02.

If you are going to be carrying a GW/AW then you probably aren't going to be hitting a lot of touch or "between" shots with your pitching wedge. If that is this case, it looks to me like you wouldn't be giving up anything and actually gaining a little forgivness by carrying the MP-52 wedge.

As said earlier, if you use you pw a lot from around the greens, or for those shots a little too long for the SW, than the blade style might fit better.

I went with the wedge instead of the "P iron." When I'm chipping, I strongly prefer the blade wedges, even though I don't use it for a majority of my chips. I'm much more comfortable hitting a half of a 47° than half of an iron. And I so rarely have a full shot of a PW into a green, so it doesn't bother me.

It is all personal preference. But think of it like this. Buying a separate PW is like using blade irons. A PW is usually for full shots, and you usually use a 52* or higher for around the green (the 52 is nice for a tap and roll).

I like pw's to match my sw and lw as much as possible. My pw is too squarish to open and flop compared to a sw style wedge.

you should go with the mpt pw.
