One day a week or two ago I spent about two hours hitting full, 3/4, 1/2, and 1/4 (really, full, 10:30, 9:00, and 7:30) shots with my three wedges. I'd hit four balls, measure the center of the cluster, and repeat two more times. The conditions were perfect, so I was only getting about a yard of forward bounce, making all of my distances good "carry" yardages.

Then I remembered, and I think I read it in Dave Pelz's Short Game Bible, but I typed them up, printed them out, and put them on the underside of my shaft near the grip.

P.S. I never hit a wedge actually "full." I try to swing relatively easy with my wedges. I could easily get 10 more yards out of my wedges, but at a much greater risk of ballooning balls, overspinning them, or even just hitting a poor shot.

This is indeed the method advocated by Dave Pelz.

I always had one question about doing this though. How do you get your yardages once you're within 100 yards? The chances of finding yardage markers (at the courses I play) is low.

Does that answer your question?

That's what I figured. Oh well, I guess that's one more thing I can put on the equipment wish list.

You have the Bushnell Pinseeker, right Erik?

Yeah. I recently traded it out for the non-slope ("Tournament Edition") one. If you buy from Golf Gods, use any of the many coupon codes out there to save 10%. Free shipping I think, too...
