Hi I am a lefty golfer and recently i have been having trouble hitting my clubs. I get perfect height, but I am losing distance on my swings and everything seems to go straight left. I use to have a natural draw, but not it does not draw anymore and just stays left. What are some drills for me to get my draw back and prevent my push to the left? I guess I am not releasing my wrists and rolling my forearms enough. If anyone can help this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I was once told by a teaching pro that a push is so close to a perfect shot. If you are pushing then your swing path is good, and the club face is square to that path because it goes straight!

If the club face is a few degrees closed relative to the swing path then the ball will curve in that direction. So..... with that being said, since you are left handed the ball should curve back to the right if the club face is closed a few degrees......close it to much and you will get a hook.

Try slowing down your swing to about 80% and feel the release, and try to get the ball working back to the right.

If I swing to hard I will fight a slice also.....I think it is from the hands out racing the club head to the ball.

develop a stronger grip to promote a draw. Use the same swing as before...you should be drawing the ball with your new grip, b/c now your clubface will be shut.

I was going to mention this too, if your grip has drifted to a weaker position it would restrict your release, make sure you are seeing 2-2.5 knuckles on your right hand and that your left palm is facing the target when you grip is completed.

Also, for me tension was a killer for a while. After I hit a few shots and get a bit excited about how well I am hitting and tense up a bit I have a tendency to start pushing. If I relax, go down to 1/2 speed, 1/2 swing and only think about release I can typically find my rhythm again. Regards, -E

When ever I push my ball I am doing either of the following:

1) hands too far from my body
2) I am lifting my head and coming out of the shot
3) Not taking a full turn with my hip
4) my shoulder or arms and hips are not syncronized
