Lately I've been playing around with how I bend my back arm's wrist (my right wrist) at the end of my backswing. I've found I can maintain the same level of consistency and distance with both of the ways I've tried bending it. I want to choose one (obv the right one); so I'd like some help so I can stick to 1 swing.

The two ways are:

1) Bend my wrist backward (so the palm of my hand is pointing the same direction as the length of my forearm)

2) Keeping my palm relatively parallel to my arm and bending my wrist at a right angle (so the side of my hand is no longer parallel to the side of my arm)

I was able to find a picture which seems to show these two different ways:

Cobra S9-1 F Speed
Ben Hogan Apex Edge 3-PW
Titleist Vokey Wedges 56, 60

The best mental image I have ever heard about the right hand position at the top of the backswing is "Imagine your right hand is in the position to carry a tray of drinks at the top of the back swing."

My thought is that it depends on your grip. Position 1, when combined with a "strong" grip seems like it would encourage a hook.

I agree with the last post. A strong or even neutral left hand grip and a "tray" position backwing would mean that the club face is completely closed at the top of the swing. I'm not sure this is what you want.

If anything you want it square or slightly open so that you can 'feel' the release at ball position.

I have been interested about the proper right wrist cock.

I believe my current swing - I'm doing what is shown in the first photo by the OP - thus my left wrist at P4 is bowed.

I believe I need to modify my right wrist cock to eliminate the bowed left wrist at P4?  Hmmm.... Gotta do more mirror work.
