Rife putters. Anyone using them?

Smart man. Spend your money (and time) on the area that will improve your score the most. Putting. Very wise indeed.

Relatively not that much money, either.

I spent £35 per club on Irons from 3-PW (Second hand). £60 per club on Wedges - GW, SW. I spent £86.5 pounds on a Rife Antigua which I will use as much as all the other clubs put together. No brainer. Our club pro declared "that's a premium putter, that is" like someone of my ability should be using any old stick. I don't feel the same way. I have confidence in my putter. It feels good, and I seem to be able to control the length well. With that absolute confidence, I can work on my stroke and improve without any reservations that I'm being held back by my equipment. If I putt badly, it's because I putt badly. I prefer to know that, than have other potential factors clouding the issue. The first time using it I had a round with only 31 putts, and played to 15 (although off the yellows). I don't expect it will be like that every day, but assuming I've not had all my luck in one place it looks like a good start.

Your club pro sounds like a goober

I love my Rife Antigua as well. Went to the practice putting green this morning. Talk about a great practice session. Felt like I knew what I was doing. Just rolling the ball up from 12-15 feet and knowing every putt would finish a foot from the hole if it did not go in. I have never had that kind of feel before. The "roll grooves" are the real deal. Enjoy that Rife man. You are smart to spend money on a premium putter. Tons of strokes saved this way. I have honestly dropped 4-5 strokes per round since getting my Rife and I have only had it 2.5 weeks! Worth twice the price I paid for it.

Went to a demo day at local range and they were demoing the putters.  My wife, who is new to golf tried one from 25 feet out.  Holed it. Next putt, tap in range.  Next putt, tap in range.  Next putt, holed it.  Bought the putter.  I tried it at a local course.  Fast huge greens.  133 rating.  Played 36 holes and just 3 putted twice.  May haves to buy another one.

Bought a Rife 2-bar mallet 4 years ago. Love the roll it puts on the ball. This one time sticks out in my mind. I was playing in the pouring ran one day in a tournament. Greens were soaked and everyone in my group was having trouble getting the ball to the hole. I putted the same way as always and it seemed as if the putter was getting the ball up on top of the grass(if that makes sense) better than everone else's putter. By the end of the round my playing competors were calling it the aqua putter. Took the club out of the bag because I got a Scotty Cameron Kombi-S this year. I was putting bad going into the club champion ship so I put the Rife back in the bag. Made every put inside ten feet that day. It was like meeting a old friend you haven't seen in a awhile. Rife's are a excellent putter.

I would agree, I had the Rife 2-bar mallet and loved it until a thief liked it well enough to steal it. I now have an Odyssey Two Ball mallet and most of the time I like it. I don't think I'll ever find another putter that rolled the ball as good as the Rife.

I have used the Rife 2 bar Hybrid for about 8 years now. I have tried other putters thru the years, but always go back to my Rife. Point being. When your putting bad, it's not the putter, it's YOU !. I love my rife putter.

I just picked up the new Rife Cayman Brac - Island Series.  My last three putters were an Odyssey Works 2-Ball, a Ping Cadence Tomcat and a Confidence.  I spent the last 10 years going with more and more gizmos on my putters.  Bottom line?  They didn't help me.  So a friend of mine has a connection with Rife and got me the new Cayman, which seemed like a step back until I tried it.  I love this club.  So evenly weighted and a nice solid but soft strike.  I've taken 2-3 strokes off my game with this putter.  I'll be happy with this one for many years to come... until something better comes along.  I need an intervention.

I understand making sure the weight and length are good but I've never picked up a putter and had it magically make me putt better. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying bash anyone who's spent money on an expensive putter by any means, I just wouldn't do it until I have everything else I already custom fitted.

That's a fair point, Jeremie. The best golfer I know plays with a 40 year old set of Wilson Pro Staff blades and Persimmon woods. I need all the help I can get. But there is no magic formula. Just watch The Open at Chambers. There will be quite a few disappointed golfers using thousands of dollars worth of clubs in their bags. ;)

If I had a lot of trouble putting, perhaps I would look at a different putter . I putt the same with my $10 putter as I do with someone's $200 putter. Basically, as long as the putter face is square and the putter shaft isn't bent I'll be able to two putt most holes at worst. I have many more strokes added by other facets of my game than missed putts.
