Golfsmith and Edwinwatts

Who has had experiences at both Golfsmith and Edwin Watts. I am starting to do some club hunting and will check out both stores, but does one generally have better staff, clubfitters, selection, etc... Is there anything I should watch out for at one or the other.

Personally I have received better service at Edwin Watts... The staff seems to be friendlier and more helpful IMO.

They are the two most trusted names out there. I have done lots of shopping with The Golf Warehouse in recent years. Love them as well. Great website with lots of selection.

People will be people. I doubt that all employees of one suck and all the others at another company walk on water. Like saying you prefer McDonalds to Burger King because a girl at the Burger King drive through was rude. But with that being said, I have not shopped in these stores much. I mostly look in person and buy online. So much easier and often much better prices can be found online. When looking at equipment, first thing I do is check Edwin Watts, Golfsmith, and The Golf Warehouse websites. TGW site is tops in my opinion. Compare prices, then go from there. It is good to put your hands on an item and see how well you like it. But that has nothing to do with where you purchase. This philosophy also reduces the importance of customer service. Which does seem to be a lost art form these days. Unfortunately only the smaller private shops seem to be adept with customer service and their prices are almost always higher due to less volume of sales. Then again, it is nice to support the little local guy sometimes. I am sure they would agree.

Every store is different. I would go visit both to get a real feal for each sites service.
