ok,
so today I was paired with a guy who a had pretty nice looking set of Maxfli irons. He let me hit a few with them and I loved them. he told me they are the Maxfli clone of the TM r7s. He said that Maxfli is TM's lower brand like hogan is callaway's lower brand.

Upon inspection the irons had a weight exactly where the the r7 draw bias set do.

I was currently looking in to purchasing the hogan BH-5s because they are "clone" of the X-14s.

so i have two questions:

1) what set did he have? can you believe that after all that, I never asked him the model of the clubs.... anyone know?

2) anyone know anything about these clubs?

i just thought id set you straight on callaways relationship with ben hogan clubs, ben hogan was an independant company until just recently when callaway purchased top flite and subsequently the ben hogan line who top flite had purchased years before, since the purchase ben hogans factories have stopped production on everything except apparel and accessoriesn anywho the pointt is that ben hogan clubs are independant in design and callaway had no bearing on the desings.

Maxfli's are not clones; Hogans are far from clones. Hogan irons were a premier club on tour until Callaway got their hands on Top-Flite and Hogan (primarily for their golf ball patents)

Maxfli's are an exclusive brand that is owned by Dick's Sporting Goods now.

I use Maxfli Powermax Irons.. I got them 2 years ago or so for $200 from Sports Authority. (Supposably marked down from $400, although I never saw them actually sell at that price.) Maybe that's what he was using? TaylorMade used to own the brand, but now apparantly Dick's Sporting Goods picked it up and TM is no longer affiliated.

My irons do the job. They are ultra forgiving and carry far enough. They were/are my first irons I ever bought. They are also the next thing in my bad that will see an upgrade.
