I build a lot of clubs and have done a few dozen putters. I wouldn't mess around with your old putter. Just get a new shaft and grip. The shaft will run you about $5 and the grip... well that's up to you, could be as cheap as $1 to $10 or more.

You'll need a few other supplies regardless. Shafting epoxy (do not use regular epoxy, it's harder and more brittle and takes much much more heat to breakdown if you ever want to remove the head), some wet/dry sandpaper to abrade the shaft tip. You'll want to clean the putter hosel well and possibly abrade the inside of it too. A final cleanup with some acetone or isopropyl alcohol before you epoxy it together.

None of it is all that hard, it's just paying attention to detail. If you take your time and do it right you'll have a really nice club when you are finished. If not, not so nice...

You might want to go here and watch the videos to see what you are getting yourself into:

well i was going to get a new grip for the shaft i found a nice one on golf smith i was going to have my local range take care of it for 6 bucks but they don't do reshafting, I wanted to keep this as cheap as possible since I need a new driver and i wanna put more into that but I'll look for a cheap shaft if I can get it for 5 bucks i'll go for it. also do u have a kit you can recommend a shafting kit i guess I have a heat gun so thats no problem.

    • 12 July 25 - Got invited to a Sat morning round with some friends.  Was a decent round - sort of a pre-tournament round for the 1st of Aug.  Best play of the day - lost ball off the tee on 7.  Took the drop, hit 3rd onto the green, missed the par putt by 3 inches short - middle of cup.  Was a good bogie recovery.  Learned a valuable lesson - the wedge is your friend, the collars on the greens are just long enough that they kill the putter (unless you hammer it).  Back to more of those nice chip and roll drills. &nbsp
    • Day 357: played 27 holes. +6 total - pretty pleased. Only negative was missing the hole 3 times from within 4 feet…
    • Day 1: 7/12/25 exactly 60 minutes of chipping practice. Unlikely to be able to practice very much but sure had a blast today!
    • Didn't score better, but made better swings on the course today. I found a bit of success on range pre-round, just hitting like what felt like 60-70% shots. It was more right elbow and right wrist angles in the downswing. Driver took a bit to work out the giant toe push draws I was hitting.
