Anyone use one of these before? It's basically an Iron that has a hinge towards the club head that breaks if you swing it improperly. My uncle has one and after getting about 10 good swings in I started hitting my clubs and hitting them great.

I was surprised at how heavy the club head seemed with the Medicus 5 Iron. As I started taking practice swings it felt like the thing would break in two! The more I swung it the more I began to realize just how durable this golf swing aid really is.

Then I hit some balls with my regular clubs. They felt lighter and easier to hit than normal, and that was after practicing with the Medicus 5 Iron for only a few minutes.

2 thoughts.. First it is a great way to get in someone's head before a round even starts

Second, I have found that hitting balls with it is pointless but it is helpful to groove a smooth take-away. The weight is also good to loosen up with instead of swinging 2 clulbs, etc... Would I spend the money again, prob not...

The most benefit you will get from that club is a better sense for tempo. Makes your swing smooth. Also gets you pulling the club and swinging into the ball instead of hitting the ball. doesn't have indications on your fundamentals though. great for getting a feel if you've lost it or haven't found it.

For a beginner golfer would this be a good training aid, or would be constant visits to a pro for one on one lessons be a better place to spend money?
I have just been curious about this product and wondering how beneficial it really is, its been on the market for ages!

I personally would always lean to 1-on-1 lessons if had a choice. The medicus IMHO is a good tool like someone said above for tempo (to develop or if you lost yours) but as far as learning fundementals a pro is preferred.
