Flat left wrist, hitting down, club like hockey stick leaning forward--all versions of the same advice. Irons need to be hit with the hands ahead of the club face at contact. The slightly delofted club face hits the ball lower and farther ("penetrating" in the jargon).

I've looked at my videos, but my computer is retarted and won't recognize my camera when it is plugged it, and I saw I am completly casting the club, so I get a scoop at impact, not a firm left wrist. But I traced it a little further down to not accelerating through the ball, and once I figured that out, my distance came back (when I accelerated and held lag).

To the many who said I do not have a firm left wrist, congrats. You were right, and thanks.

foward press make the shaft lean towards your aim point delofts club=more distance

+1 And move the ball back/forward in your stance a half ball or so (or move your stance ahead a half ball or so on the course, where you cant move your ball). I Had my balls where 'conventional teaching' told me I should have them. My instructor had me experiment with that, and it made a great change in my ball striking consistency in distance and ball flight. a half a ball backwards is my 'sweet spot'
