Whats up everyone. I am a avide Costco shopper and often buy my gloves their since its a smokin deal (3 Callaway gloves for 18.99). The best thing is, when they wear out you can return them.

Anyways, I was in their today and they have a SkyCaddie SG4 for $144.99 without a membership. After doing about 2 or 3 hours of research, I have come to the conclusion this is a pretty good deal. From what I understand this is the second best rangefinder that this company makes and usually retails for well over 200 bucks.

My question is, do you guys think this is a good deal and I should jump all over it? Have any of you used this specific device and dislike or like it? It has some pretty kool features but before I drop this much $ on this, I wanted everyones opinion.

Oh and keep in mind that if this thing EVER breaks or doesnt work I can bring it back and get a full refund. I would take the plunge and take it back if i didnt like it, but its $30 for a membership.

EDIT: Its a newer model as well. Version 2.0 Software.

I think it is a great deal. I was so mad when I saw it at Cosco the other day. I got the SkyCaddie 2.5 for Christmas from Golf Galaxy with some coupons and stuff but it was still way more (like $100). I searched around alot and I thought I got an okay deal. Anyway, I think if you want to get a gps I would definately get it at costco.

One thing, I don't know much about the SG4. It seams to be one of the less popular models. I don't know why. It might just be the shape is a little different. I am sure it would work good. Another thing is my screen goes dark sometimes, It is annoying, so I would watch out for that.

Your screen goes dark? Like it doesnt work or takes a dump on you while playing?

It goes dark in that I have to turn it just right to be able to see the numbers in the light. It is annoying but still usable, plus my warrenty ran out a few weeks ago. I shouldn't have activated at christmas.

Have only done it once. I used one of the gloves for 2 rounds and it riped.

I should also note my wife is a manager there. Really isnt that big of a deal when i return things.

what range finder did you end up buying? I think I'm gonna do a little more research and prolly take the plunge.

It's a great deal. A friend I play with bought one in Costco in Florida while he was there for the same price as you. I went on their website hoping to buy it online but they don't offer it online. I bought one on Ebay for $160.00. I think it's great although I did have a tough time getting a signal on a cloudy day this week.

I'd jump on that deal like a duck on a junebug... I paid twice that much for mine a year and a half ago... Works great and the new software is easier to use... Not sure about an earlier posting and the screen going dark... There is a backlight feature if you need it

Hah, that response always makes me laugh. You are not paying for the satellite signal, you are paying for the

accurate mapping of oh, about 25,000 courses. It's like paying for a library card to a library with 25,000 yardage books in it. To me that's a great deal and Skygolf does a great job of continuously adding new courses and updating old ones that might need it (course changes, etc.). I find it interesting that people will bitch about a subscription fee that costs about that same as a dozen premium balls or who have $400-500 drivers in their bags. I guess it's all perspective but I find my Skycaddie SG3 indispensable, even on my home course but especially on a course I've never played before or play infrequently. I play enough golf that I don't mind coughing up $50/year for that.

What's in my bag (most of the time)
