I'm curious....

I recently lost (more like stolen) all my gear and well if you look at my signature, I had two vokeys, 52, 60 and a cleveland 56.

Repurchasing ALL vokey's again, I can't recall the bounce I had with them. Quite honestly, I never really put much thought into it but I think I did get 08 or 10.

I guess the question I'm asking it, what bounce should I be sticking with if I don't even know which to get?

Anyone can educate me with this?

I would say it really depends on the turf conditions that you play most. Softer fairways and high rough will require more bounce to prevent the club from "sinking" easily. Whereas firm ground and tight lies will require less bounce to avoid the club "springing" off the ground (and skulling the ball).

For your sand wedge you'll want a bounce that suits the type sand in the bunkers where you play.

Less bounce for firm tightly packed sand.

How many variation of bounce are there?

Right now, looking at my wedges, I have these specifically...

52' 08
56' 11
60' 07

These were the bounce's that were recommended as the sales person considered "average."

Does anyone disagree or agree as good bounces to start off with. I know that it depends on where you play, but I don't want to have 100 different variations of wedges, despite the fact that I play in different courses frequently with obviously different conditions.

Those sound pretty good to me, depending on your location in Cali. I personally have the following:

47.06 51.08 56.14 60.07 (don't use this one much, but have it)

I would say that is pretty average bounce.

I just researched this a bit myself as I got some new Cleveland wedges about two weeks back. My lob was 4, sand was 14, and gap was 8. I like less bounce on my lob for tighter lies, I like more bounce on the sand, and just a middle of the road on the gap. Unless you go too far in either direction, I doubt you will have much to worry about. As stated by the other guy, it depends greatly on what kind of course you typically play. Soft, deep, flush fairways, more bounce. If tighter, firmer fairways, god for sake hard pan, less bounce is better. For the sand, same would apply from what I gather. I went with more bounce than some sand wedge offerings.

My are
54-10 -> 51-07
58-08 -> 56-06
60-04

I don't like bounce at all. Open the club face increase the bounce, if too much bounce, it become difficult for me to hit. I believe the 2009 vokey have the wider range of choices. Why not demo some.

I'm considering something like ttcup too. Clubs I use today got too much bounce for my liking. I play on hard turf and often wet and hard bunkers.

I prefere to come down hard on the ball and pop it up, not get underneath with lots of bounce. I also find it easier to get under the ball and pick it up nicely with less bounce. It's also got to do with what kind of swing you got and how you prefere to play.

52' 08
56' 11
60' 07

or if anything a good place to start off with if I vary the course I play.

Yep, at least they'll be what Titleist considers to be "average" since those are the only bounce angles available in the left-handed range.

I'm a lefty and would prefer a lower bounce lob wedge than the 60.07 stock club in the Vokey range. My plan was to buy a 62.07 wedge and bend it to 60.05. I play a lot of open-faced shots with my lob wedge and I reckon the sole design on the 62.07 wedge might help me out -- in terms of sole design, it seems to fall somewhere between the 60.07 and 60.04 (which I'd prefer, but it's available only for right-handed golfers). Do you guys have any thoughts about this? In particular, do you know what happens to the leading edge of the (open-faced) club when the loft is decreased? (I've heard that it might be raised even more, which is obviously not what I'm trying to achieve.)
