115 to 122 mph qualifies for double X flex in most brands.  The top shaft by far in long drive is House of Forged and they recommend an XX for speeds of 115-125.

That being said, your tempo has a huge say in how you load the shaft and what flex is best for you.  A Fred Couples type rhythm could handle a single X or even S if the timing was on every day!

When I swing a driver where the shaft is too whippy, I generally get too much bow into impact and hook the ball.  However, ballooning it with a general lack of consistency in direction are also common occurrences.
