Ok gentleman.. I have been gaming these 67's with DG s300 and hitting them pretty well.. but im hitting the ball super high..not balooning per se, but i just dont like it. they are dead accurate, but they dont seem to handle the knock down shot as well as the X100's.. so my question is, how will the proj X 6.0 stack up to these S300 DG? spin, ball flight, etc etc.

I could be wrong but I was under the impression that the PX had a higher launch and flight than the DG shafts.

I have these exact irons with the DGs300 shaft in them. When i went for my fitting i tried the project x 6.0 and the launch angle was higher and the peak height of the ball was higer as well, if i remember properly they launched around 2 degrees higher and my peak height was 5-10 feet higher. I like you hit the ball high so had to go for the s300 to keep the ball down.

On the knock down shot, how high does yours go? I have to admit i haven't really had a problem hitting it, and with my 3 iron i can hit one that goes abot 15 feet high and 190 yards forwards which is ideal in windy conditions!!

I think it is really a personal decision. Here are my thoughts...

My old set had DG-300 and I was looking for something a little firmer. I played them fine, but it was getting to the point where they were not strong enough and everything went left when I would swing hard. Like you, I hit the ball very high and needed something that would bring it down and be able to hit it low.

When getting new clubs last year I tried the DG 300 & 100 and the PX 5.5 and 6.0. My initial thinking as that the stiffness progression went like this: 300, 5.5, 6.0, 100. For me, the 300 and 5.5 were very close. So close that I couldn't tell the difference. I had the same ballflight, and they both went a little left when I got after it. Go to the 6.0. I could not hit that shaft to save my life. I think I hit one out of twenty good, and that was a struggle. For me, it was like swinging a lead pipe. Maybe with some time I could have figured it out, but did not like it at all. At this point, I assume that if I can't hit the 6.0 the 100 would be waaay to stiff. The pro that was helping me convinced me to try the 100 just to see what would happen. Absolutely perfect. My ballflight stayed my normal really high (I think most of that is my swing). But it is the type of shot that will cut into the wind, no ballooning at all. A knockdown shot is back in play also. I still don't hit it as low as I would like, but it gets the job done.

My point is, I too thought the 6.0 would be what I needed, until I tried it. Find someplace that has some demos that you can hit and see what you think. I didn't like the 6.0, but that doesn't mean you won't.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Since you load the shaft enough to where you use an X-flex whiteboard shaft in your driver, I think the x-100 or even the 6.5 could work for you. The 6.0 does launch pretty high for me, but it stops the ball on a dime, and I can still hit the knockdown shot with them.

I recently purchased the Mizuno MP 57's with the Project X 6.0. I had the DG300s in an older set of Mizunos and I seemed to hit the ball very high with my old clubs.

Whether it be the new clubs or the new shafts, I'm so much more confident with the new irons. The launch angle may be higher off the Project X 6.0's but I feel like my ball flight overall is lower and more penetrating than with the DG300s shafts. The ball sits just as well on the greens and spins just as much if not more.

Like others said -- its personal preference, but I'll be sticking with the rifle shafts.

If you sweep with your irons then stick with the DG irons. If you hit down (taking a divot) then I would highly recommend the project x shafts.

If you can get the right fitting with these shafts (Project X's), they'll change your game for sure. I've always played DG S300's, DG X100's and Rifle 6.0 and 6.5's. I got fitted for these shafts by more than one person, and I actually was better off with the 5.5 flex beleive it or not...And you cannot base what you read from other people on your purchase of these shafts or any others. Everybodys swing is different, get fitted, and try as many shafts as you can. Switching to these shafts I actually hit the ball lower and flatter, but have gained spin......Odd I know...

I agree completely. I swing down through the ball, even with my long irons, and the PX 6.0 has really done well for me so far. I play a stiff shaft in the driver and 6.0's are just right for my irons.... since you are playing an X flex maybe try out the 6.5 or 7's??

Good luck.
