Was going to buy this club and never thought about fakes, but just searching for reviews and reading about people selling fake Scotty's made me wonder if I was buying a fake Scotty, I'm thinking about buying it off some guy on CRAIGSLIST for $200. and just wanted too see what I could test too see if it was a fake or if it's legit. Should I ask for more pictures or any spot specific on the club?

looks legit. but that's the point of a good counterfeit. The serial numbers on fakes are often real serial numbers, so that's not going to clarify anything. Take it to a shop that sells Camerons and compare it side by side with one on the shelf.

You can drive yourself crazy with this. As an owner of an authentic X5 purchased from an authorized retailer, I can tell you it certainly looks legitimate.

Makes you wonder how many of us are gaming high-dollar clubs that are hong kong knock-offs.

I can't imagine dropping all that money on a SC, and then finding out it is a fake. Make a man cry and think destructive thoughts, wouldn't it?

It may have a real SC serial number, but it may not the right serial number for that putter. SC should be able to verify the model, age, original shaft, loft, lie, original purchase location, etc. If some of the specs don't match up with the serial number, then buyer beware.

Carl Spackler: This is a hybrid. This is a cross of Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia. The amazing stuff...

I haven't purchased it yet, but I heard to bring a magnet too see if it sticks then it's a fake, is this true for all of them? And is there any other test that could give it away as a fake?

I'll definetly get a pic of the serial and send it in also.

i know a guy who UNKNOWINGLY bought a fake Scotty Cameron Newport off Ebay from a seller in China (big tip off there, lol). but instead of going thru the hassle of returning it, he just kept it and he says its actually not a bad putter, lol (he did leave the guy negative feedback though)

Well, there was someone on here a while back with a fake Scotty and it got diagnosed by the placement and font of the Serial being off a bit.
