Hi

I'm thinking of buying a new iron set. I have a very old set (Ben Hogan's) that was passed down from my dad. The local golf store has a sale on the Nike Slingshots for 350.00, down from 700.00.

Anyone that has used the Slingshots or owns them, feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Are these clubs pretty forgiving? I've just started up golf. Should I look for alternatives. Are these a good starting out club for beginners?
Is it worth an extra $100.00 to get a graphite shaft?

Thanks

Slowly building my set.

I tried the Nike Slingshots for a round not too long ago, and I could not stand them. It felt like I was swinging a stick with a mack truck at the end of it. They were forgiving and hit well, I will give them that, but I just did not like the way they felt when I swung them and found the large size of the heads distracting.

Another one to look at if you can find it in the same price range is Adams A3. I ended up buying these and am extremely happy with them, and have never played better golf.

I use steel shafts (except hybrids) because I have a fairly quick tempo and I find them to be more consistent.

I just bought a new set of Slingshots last week. They should be here early next week. I'll hit them a couple times and let ya know how i like them.

I bought a set of the Slingshot 4D last fall, at first I really liked them but now that I've played several rounds with them, they're just not for me. Like one of the other posts, they are really heavy and just didn't have any feel. I will agree, they are long and very forgiving. Also, pretty good from the rough.

I like to use my 8-PW for various greenside shots, particularly chips, and they were simply to bulky for me to feel comfortable with.

I recently bought the Nike Sumo2 Iron/Hybrid set for $359. You can optionally get the steel shafted all iron set for about the same price. Played with them alot so far this year and love them.
