Throwing this one out there...

I've been playing knockoff Callaway X-20 irons for a bit now using the saved money for lessons and it's finally starting to pay off. Having said that, I'm looking to buy some new (well used but new to me) irons and would love any opinions.

My swing speed though is slow (<90), my distance is short and I am ready to start thinking about incorporating more lag into my swing as well as shot shaping.

The irons that have peaked my interest (in no order):

Wilson Ci7
Nickent 3DX Pro
Srixon I506

My father has a set of Mizuno T-Zoid irons that he leaves in my garage for when he comes to play. They feel great but I always think I need a bit more cavity to be consistent with them. As before... any opinion would be great... especially if you've hit with all 3 sets. I'm just trying to decide. Thanks.

I hit them straight but i really can't feel if I've hit them straight or not. I know how well I've hit the ball by the flight... I'd like some feel... and I'd like to reward myself when I break 90.

For the price I'd vote 3DX Pros which I play now, but nothing wrong with what you have if they work.

i would suggest getting the srixon's. i hit some at a pro shop recently and they felt great although i still recommend going and hitting all three you're looking at and then buying online through craigslist, ebay, or a site like callawaypreowned.com (although i don't think they have any srixons).
In the bag:

F Speed LD Mens 3 Wood 15.5° Graphite Design Tour AD YS Stiff
2H 18° Baffler Pro with Fukijura Speeder Stiff Graphite Shaft

wow, all 3 of those are some of my favorite iron sets out right now. you cant go wrong with any of them. GREAT CHOICES!!! however, if it was me, this would be my vote in order:
1. Wilson Ci7
2. Srixon i506
3. Nickent 3DX Pro
also, have you given any thought to the Nickent 4DX Pro's? I LOVE the Ci7's and I am seriously considering picking up a set of those myself

    • I'll say again… you have a different definition of "temporary" and "speed" than I do. For your handicap to go up FOUR shots means you were through the soft cap and approaching the hard cap. If you did it over 15 rounds (leaving five potentially lower scores), then you played REALLY bad golf over that stretch because it's likely that only three or four of the best of those 15 rounds were actually counted, so if the three or four best scores RAISED your handicap five shots (three at 100%, 2 at 50% once you hit the soft cap), then that's some BAD golf over an extended (not temporary) period of time. And here's the thing… play 15 good rounds, or even just EIGHT, and it'll DROP again, even faster. Handicaps still drop faster than they rise, not only because of the way we calculate it (best 😎 but because of the caps. Right… it's not like you're not needing the shots. You're playing really badly, and your handicap is still lagging behind your play.
