...I probably have ever played with. Guy was in his 60's, a bit of a heavy set guy. He just lazily picked the club up, did this little hitch thing at the top which caused the club to almost lay on his shoulder and then just snapped it through.

Penetrating drives right down the pipe all day long with little to no effort, around 275 yards. His one miss was on 18, he missed the fairway by 3 yards and it found a fairway bunker. Other than that, he was perfect.

He perfectly mixed length and accuracy. Every single drive looked exactly the same. Tight little 3 yard draw. The sound coming off his driver was sweet, hit the ball dead center without exception every time. To the point where that sound started to get annoying after a while.

What did he shoot in the end? Was the rest of his game as consistent?

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

Not sure exactly what he shot. Tons of pars, 1 birdie, maybe a handful of bogeys. Definitely no doubles. 76-77ish probably.

6800 yards, 72.1/127 course. Yes, very consistent player. Very good iron player and sharp short game. Missed a couple short putts for birdie/par that cost him some strokes. He just chuckled and went on to the next hole.

Me? No, my round was miserable.

LOL.

Well, at least you got to witness first hand you don't need a tour swing to produce good results and shoot a good score.

    • Day 159 - Played 9 holes, mediocre round. No “shanks”, so I have that going for me…
    • Day 62: Priority piece work with 7-iron, half swing punch shots.
    • Day 5:  Practiced with my 7i at home then some putting at the range before playing 9 holes.  I really thought I was going to beat my best score by 2 or 3 strokes but I tied it.
    • Buddy… Bolding and capitalizing one word out of over 120 is not yelling. And seriously, be a student of history or something. The U.S. Open often gets harder as it goes on. -5 might end up as the winning score. Plus, there wasn't a ton of wind today. And… these players are pretty good. The "these courses are too easy" takes can just go away. We've had enough with one person's perpetual posts on that topic, we don't need another.
    • First, thanks for capitalizing and using bold print for the word “facts.”    That was helpful.   Second, it must be a “fact” that the score relative to par today had nothing to do with the quality of the entire US Open field vs the quality of the entire Memorial field on day one.   Again, thanks for the text equivalent of yelling.
