...What I would recommend is writing a respectful letter to the owner or Mgr of the golf shop explaining what happened. If this is the first time you been treated that way then maybe you should give them a change to make it right...

This is exactly what he should do, except it should go directly to the owner as the manager may not have a direct investment in the place other than receiving a paycheck. The guy signing the paychecks is the one to to contact. He more than likely would not know what is going on but would certainly care more.

Carefully-written letters of complaint, on paper (not e-mail), are an easy way to make a huge impact. Very few people today take the time to generate one. Make sure to provide your contact information as you will likely get a response.

Man, there is always somebody at the golf course that you run into down here thats in a bad mood to say the least. Down here in the south, they don't want change. Don't take it personal, I'm sure some kid somewhere came in and acted like a child and that's the impression they have burned in their brain.

I somewhat agree...I'm 24, have one arm fully sleeved in tattoos, usually in cargo shorts and a untucked polo, and have played several rounds in Arkansas, and plenty of old timers have had long conversations with me, as well as met a few golfing buddys.

I think the people who you're talking about are just stubborn idiots.

The 39 year old in me likes the written letter idea.

The 18 year old in me likes the flash the cash and make them dance like monkeys idea.

The six year old in me keeps yelling "fire! fire!"

The bad parts are:

He was part owner (one son of the original founder)
They are more expensive than the chains
All they know is the sales aspect, never been able to get any info on clubs for my game from them.

Ah, the kid had a tough climb to the top. You might just be better off taking your business elsewhere. The business is already doomed, he just does not know it yet. He will eventually flounder and go away if there is no logical reason for people to go in there. Any business that has higher prices than the competition has to offer some other offsetting reason for people to patronize it.

That bites.

I don't think you'd be dismissed at our two best local "off-course" shops, U.S. Golf and Bonaventure Golf both on Bobby Jones Expressway within a mile from each other.

The 18 year olds around here in golf shops are given priority....never know when one may be the next high level player....

We have some unreal young golfers in the area....simply unreal.
