ooh, that looks like it would be fun to do shaped punches with (with a lower loft, that is)

a useful club at my home course, a short, tree-heavy course where there isn't much iron play to speak of, just driving and wedgework, bomb-and-gouge style

Goals: Correct slice on driver/long clubs(close!), work on consistent iron distance, practice aiming irons

Not to be the party pooper or anything, but the direction of the grooves really won't matter much. Grooves are there to clear debris and water. We might get a teeny bit more backspin with today's really sharp grooves when they put a bite on the ball, but not much, and the angle of attack relative to those grooves is pretty dramatic.
