I started a thread yesterday about gppgolf.com and i received a positive response about the website. But what i want to know is how do they sell for so cheap. For instance these Nike clubs ( http://www.gppgolf.com/gppg/content/...ariantId=67522 ) are $500 at Dicks. Is there something that i'm missing here?

They're definately legit so lets just get that straight. Why their prices are so low is something I don't know, nor would I speculate.

So I wouldn't be taking a risk if I purchased these from them?

Bought a set of Ping G2s a couple of years ago from them and they were in perfect shape at an extremely reasonable price. I think they're safe.

Well im going to give them a try then.

Oh, idk about this site, that's just my response to why a site would have ridiculous prices.

they also sell em for $279 BRAND NEW on ebay and $299 at RockBottomGolf. Dicks is just overpriced

Yes Dick's is like the last major golf store on the market too reduce anything. I guess it's because they sell so many other sporting goods that they can let clubs set there for a few years before they mark them down.

Unfortunately the best stocked pro shop near me is a Dick's so I do buy balls and gloves from there, that's about it!

Yeah im in the exact same situation. However my Dick's has a very helpful staff so that is a major plus.

Don't knock Dick's. You can find some really good deals there if you are patient. Yesterday I just bought a Callaway FT-i Tour LCG 9.5* i-Mix with Aldila DVS 60-S shaft for $150!!!

This site you are talking about has the same club (non i-Mix version with the stock Ozik shaft) for $399.

I don't know about this particular site, but might these clubs be old? Perhaps they are selling "model year 2007 or 2008" clubs. When I bought my Big Bertha 2008's, people were still selling BB 2006, new.

HiBore 10.5 driver
GT-500 3- and 5-woods
Bazooka JMax 4 Iron Wood
Big Bertha 2008 irons (4 and 5 i-brids, 6i-9i,PW)

by the way, gppgolf.com IS a legit site and a VERY good one. their customer service is top notch too. you can read a lot about them over at WRX. they are a sponsor over there

Right place at the right time I guess. I had never seen the i-Mix stuff in Dick's. Granted, they were already together and did not come with the wrench, but the components were brand new. They had 4 or 5 of them, but only one was the Tour LCG model. I saw them Monday at lunch, went back to the office and researched them. Once I saw what they were selling for other places and then realized my worst case if I hated the club, the trade-in value of that combo at callawaypreowned.com is $100 I figured it was a no brainer. Buy it, play it, if I don't like it I'm going to get a minimum of 70% of the purchase price in trade for it. Crazy.

I've never bought clubs from them nor do I know anyone that has. That's not to say they aren't completely legit. One reason they may be significantly cheaper than Dick's though is the fact that they don't need to carry a margin anywhere near what Dick's does. Dick's has to pay for millions of square feet of retail space whereas on online retailer can work out of his or her garage or basement.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
