the 52's are a muscle back and the 57's are a cavity back.

Ok, let's go a bit further, what can I expect to be the differences between a muscle back and a cavity back. I currently play RAC OS irons.

I feel as though I should be able to work the ball a bit more, and I am wondering if it is my clubs? So I am thinking about new irons and wanted to know what to expect out of each of the 52/57's

I just got my mizuno MP-32s last year at the end of summer and i love them....i was playing offset cavity backs for 12 years... these forged irons are not a tough as i thought to hit plus they feel awesome great spin on the green shorter in distance due to lofts... highly recommend trying them

the 52's are supposed to be geared toward handicaps of 2 to 12 they are more forgiving than the 57's but not quite as workable. the 57's are geared toward handicaps of 0 to 10 the long irons have a slightly higher ball flight and the scoring irons have a mid trajectory.

so in the end these are both great clubs you just need to decide which one fits your game the best and if you want more forgiveness or more workability. hope this answered your question.

They're both cavity back. The 52 actually has an even more pronounced cavity than the 57. Another difference is 'Cut Muscle' vs 'Dual Muscle' which changes the weight distribution on the club head. The Mizuno USA website isn't terribly helpful but the Mizuno Europe site is much better (

The Titleist ZB set offers a nice range of cavity back and muscleback throughout the set. I couldn't be happier with mine. A very precise club.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

If you think you have the game, these are a sweet set of irons. One of the guys I golf with on a regular basis has a set, with 6.0 Project X Flighted. I've played them a couple of times and loved them, they do force you to focus on your shot, not a lot of forgiveness. But they feel so pure when you hit that sweet spot, they move through the ball, like a hot knife through butter!
