I have been playing very good golf this year, for year me anyways, and now all h3!! has broke loose. I am skinning my driver 6 inches on the ground behind the ball. I have went from having really solid irons to being completely inconsistant. I am slicing my sand wedge too... Hahah jst all around game fell apart. I was shooting low 40's and now mid 50's. I feel like my whole setup has fell apart. What needs adressed here is def in the driver issue and need to know how to take a good divot with my irons. All is appericated.

I feel your pain...I was shooting in the 80's regularly last year and this year I am struggling to stay below 100 half the time.
For me...the worst has been my iron play, but I did make an adjustment with my driver that has helped off the tee.

I set up a bit for a draw (i tend to slice like most). My feet and body point slightly right of my target and my clubface is aimed at target. This has given me much straighter drives. I know I am not getting a perfect swing along the line of my body (because I am not getting the full draw) but I have almost eliminated the slice entirely. You can actually see the ball try to draw...it looks kind of like a knuckle ball as it gets up.

As far as the irons...I'm still working on it. I think I have to reduce my back swing and try to concentrate on better contact. I am getting more distance out of my clubs this year, but I am topping or flubbing more shots.

It's probably a subtle swing issue.

I get those now and then. You should take a video of yourself. If you had one then and one now to compare, it would really help.

Failing that, you might ask a pro for advice. It's probably a weight transfer issue, or your hips sliding, or swaying in the backswing, or maybe setting your wrists too early and making too steep a swing angle.

Hard to say without seeing it

Whenever my swing goes to crap and I can't seem to hit a ball where I want it to save my life, it is almost always one of 3 things:

- I fail to keep my left arm straight and extend during the early part of my backswing
- I'm swaying during my backswing
- I'm casting the club at the top of the swing

If I'm spraying the ball all over the course, all I think about is extending, keeping my head as still as possible over the ball during my backswing, and driving the butt-end of the club at the ball to start my downswing. Doing this usually solves my troubles.

My issues are always swing plane problems. I bring it too far inside and my swing goes flat. Generally that's when I start spraying it all over.

    • I haven’t really filmed in a while. Starting to feel like my body is close to being at full strength again, but I am also 65! I played a few round and my distance is down as expected. Here are a 6 iron and driver swing. My grip is a bit weak in these so I’ve focused on that the last few days. I went over my Erie notes. I’m trying to swing down from the top and not out. I want my weight to start shifting forward at about P3. And I want to push my left hip back in the downswing, which I was not successful in these swings. Ball flight has been pushes or pull draws with the irons and fades with the driver. Looking at these swings I can see why. I just need to change the picture.
    • I flipped the video above but here it is again so you see the flipped version, too.
    • Things can go awry quickly on that hole.
    • I have played that course a lot. Mostly scrambles/outings. I enjoyed the read and could picture each hole and got nervous thinking about number 5. That hole is scary. 200 yard layup off the tee?
    • Even though you didn't score well, take solice in the fact you hit the longest drive of the year! 😏 I enjoy following your rounds and can imagine the scenario.   Thanks for sharing
