I was fitted (sort of) and my irons were built 2 years ago and they are +1 inch in length and this has seemed to work well for me.

I think I know the answer to this but should my 56 degree, gap and 60 degree all be an inch long also?? I'm imagining yes but it seems like wedge is one club that a lot of people just buy a nice stock one that they hold in the store.

Do those of you that play longer irons also have your wedges custom built?

I take a standard length club. Still, when I bought my wedges I still wanted the lie, grip size, and shaft to be matched to the rest of my clubs. I imagine that would be true of shaft length (if I took other than standard) as well.

Its all about the lie angle. im 6' 2" tall and i needt +.5" up on everything. at standard lie my divots were a toe slash vs full sole. so my club maker bent them upright 3 degrees. Made all the difference in the world.

Now, being that wedges are the shortest of all, its reccomended that u lengthen them to ensure you can take a normal swing without laboring down too much. this habit can cause you to catch other clubs that are lengthened too fat. i top it if its too short and taller people have a shollower and steeper swing path as is. to maximize the clubs ability make everything relative to your height and wrist-to-floor length. most try to fit a club to their swing wich isnt good if you have a lot of flaws because u can correct that in the future and then you're at square one again.

right or wrong this is what i have learned and works well for me. logically its a sound theory as well.
